I love thanksgiving, and haven't given myself a freeday since I started my diet...should I go for it..?
And if not what should I do? I'm so torn...

When did you start? I think you'll be fine, imo though. It's only one day and it's a holiday so I say go for it! If you are really stressed out about it, I'd just basically sample everything.0

I am taking the day off. I will log for so that I have an average (i work off weekly and cycle averages).
I celebrate 6 holidays a year.
I know my friends have heard this but...
I did not get fat by eating Thanksgiving Dinner. I got fat by eating like it was Thanksgiving every day.0 -

I'm going for it! I am anxious and hate going off track, but it's one day, and I want to enjoy it! I'll be back on track Friday, and plan to eat as much pie as I want!0

I plan on enjoying my meal and maybe taking a nice walk after dinner.0

I wouldn't completely go for it but there's no reason you can't have the foods you love in smaller amounts. It's all about moderation, like for me my weakness is chocolate especially Snickers bars and dark chocolate so instead of buying a regular size candy bar I buy a bag of the fun size so i can have one without feeling guilty for eating almost 300 calories of non-nutritional value. I've found I can't cut my favorites out completely because then there's always that one day where everything goes wrong and I end up eating too much of what I have deprived myself of whereas as long as I keep them in my diet I am able to withstand the want and reach for something better. Not to mention if you give yourself a "freeday" you'll hate yourself for it after the meal when your so stuffed that it hurts.

I've already "scheduled" Thanksgiving to be my freeday haha xp
but since I'm doing the cooking I already know what's going to be in the feast, I logged everything I'll eat into the food log in advance. That way I have better portion control and will know how much of everything I can eat. Then I told all my family that they're taking all the possible leftover mashed potatoes, stuffing, desserts,...
And I'm also planning to have really light meals for breakfast and lunch (saving all the food intake for thanksgiving dinner).0 -

I am not going to go all out. I am not going to deprive myself either. I will have whatever my heart (stomach) desires, but in moderation! I believe that will be the key. Will also try for some sort of physical activity as well. One day may not ruin all my hard work, but I am not willing to let that be a possibility either.0

I'm relieved to see others saying this. I thought maybe I was crazy for saying don't go for it.0 -
I say go for it, but remember to practice moderation (don't stuff yourself until you can't move) and mindful eating (veggies vs. bread roll) and try to not drink your calories, etc.0

It's okay.. EAT!
The only thing to fear is fear itself. Your putting too much stress on Thanksgiving, when it's not serious at all. Relax, and eat with your NEW mindset.
For example: A year ago, I was 20 pounds heavier... I would have eaten like 4 servings, which is about 6,000 calories. That was my OLD mindset.
Now, I'm 20 pounds lighter... 148 pounds.. I will be eating everything I want, but with my new mindset... which is... MODERATION. You can eat some turkey.. and stuffing... and greens.... and yada yada but in moderation.
It's not difficult... eat some of everything. DON'T BINGE and eat 5 plates, 6 slices of pies and wonder why you feel horrible.0 -
Thanksgiving will be "cheat day" for me, but not an "eat 5,000 calories till you pass out" day.
Which it can be. And has been. But WON'T be this year!
Since I've changed my lifestyle and eating habits I can't quite gorge like I used to - at least not at one meal. I know I could go back there, but nope, not going to!
Oh, and I love "Eating Thanksgiving Dinner is not what made you fat!" :-)

Eat.. and enjoy.
Nothing says you have to go hog wild, but depriving yourself either won't do any good. Eat as your normally do.. cept with thanksgiving foods. So have 4 oz of turkey, half a cup of mashed taters, some gravy, half a cup of corn... or w/e it is that your eating. You get the idea..0 -
Whether you go for it or not, be sure to devote some time to good self care tomorrow. Get some exercise and drink plenty of water!0

isn't that the truth! I will eat what I want but I make the entire meal myself so by the time its time to eat I don't eat that much anyways but I wont deprive myself. i will eat what I want and I will enjoy it without guilt but I will maintain portion control... I say enjoy! Its only Thanksgiving once a year!0 -
if you weigh 400 lbs or more, I dont think I push it.........if youre within 50 or so lbs ,then I d have an enjoyable holiday with the family
