Does anyone know of a good sugar substitute that is a food product and not a non sugar substitute that will make good cheese cake? I've yet to find one and maybe somebody out there knows.

I think they have some in the organic section in my supermarket. I think it's Barley Malt syrup. Or, you can use pure maple syrup.

I don't like sugar substitutes, I used raw sugar in my cheesecake.

I hope I'm clear, sorry I wasn't even sure how to ask this question. I guess I was wondering if anybody knows of a sweet food that is comperable to sugar but better for you.

what about that stevia in the raw...I think that is what it is called. My sister uses it. It comes in a ziptop bag like the splenda does but it is stevia. Sorry, not much help.

Blue Agave is good, but not any lower in calories.

Ok, so splenda is a few molecules from a pesticide so stay away from that.

Heard that Agave has been linked to cancer but no proof to back that up.

I use Stevia. Acts like sugar, cooks like sugar (use the conversion chart) and to me...taste like sugar. I cook with it all the time and am very happy with it.

Agave Nectar is a good sweetner. It can be a little procey but its worth it!!
  • DATES. Fresh dates are very soft and easy to work with plus they give whatever you put them into a brown sugar type taste. They are delicious.
If you can't get fresh dates, buy the chopped ones, put them into a colander, and rinse the sugar off. You can soak them and press the water out with paper towels.
Dates also make an excellent meal replacement or snack bar - blend dates, walnuts, cocoa powder, and coconut. Press into bars with plastic wrap. You can put anything into them you like, this is just one example. I feed them to my kids and they have no idea they just ate something raw and healthy.
  • You might also look into brown rice syrup.
