Hi everyone!

For the past 21 years, I have been living at home and so my parents have been cooking for me.

Starting January until Aug, I will be living away from home in Toronto and I will have to fend for myself in the kitchen.

What sorts of healthy meals would you guys recommend? I want to bake chicken breasts (boneless) but Im not sure how to do so without having the same thing every night.

Does anyone know any easy recipes?

Thank you!

You can go a long way with things like salsa and tomato sauces.

I find taking pre-made things like that ^ makes starting out a lot easier. You can top chicken with salsa, add cheese and bake it..its pretty hard to mess up.

Once you grow comfortable with things like that (2-3 ingredient recipes) start branching out, getting into fresh vegetables, onions, tomato, whatever..and start expanding your abilities. Start making your own sauces or salsas. Stir-frys, dips, pretty much anything.

It's discouraging to try something super-hardcore at first...specially if theres lots of ingredients or variables.

It's better to cook something slow, and wait longer, then to turn it up high, or lose track of it and ruin the dish.

Ultimately, you REALLY have to mess something up for it to be inedible.

i love food.com. I just search for whatever I want to make, then sort it by the most popular ones and away I go. I've yet to pull a recipe from there I didn't like.

What ever you have a go at, start with a quick and easy cook book and follow the directions. We all here to help if u get stuck. My unwinding time is cooking in the kitchen and love it. Get your mum and family to write or email recipes to you and start your own cook book as I am sure u will like making what you've been used to eating. Chicken breast with some bacon on top of it, mushrooms in the tray and just a little oil for 25 - 30 mins 180 degree oven (sorry, I'm in Australia). Goes down easy hot and left overs on bread cold work also. lots of meat and salads, limit your rice and pasta or try to have them earlier in the day for lunches rather. What ever you try, it will fun and adventure, you learn from all mistakes and you will feel so good achieving what you set out to do. Cheers.
