I am seriously starting to see red now!!!!!!!!!
For weeks on end, I eat clean, gym like crazy and am generally under my goal!
So, why then is my scale punishing me?
It just refuses to move!!!! I feel like all of this is in vain!!
I just don't know what more I can do???
Any pointers?!?!?

I hate to tell you this, but, it took about 6 to 8 weeks for the scale to really move for me. I lost tons of inches though, so if you haven't already done so....measure!! Keep at it, I promise it will start to move eventually. I know the frustration though!0

know how you feel!0

Do you eat back your exercise cals?
Try eating more... it can really help!
(But without seeing your diary, I really have no idea...)0 -
My scale is stuck too! Hang in there! DO NOT give up.0

I know just how you feel. Does it to me too. Did you take measurments, i lost an inch but saw nothing on the scale for about a wk and a half. It will b ok keep up the good wrk it will show.....:happy:0

You need to arrive at your goal each day to keep your metabolic rate up. If your rate's up, you lose the weight in your sleep.... This is what I have been reliably informed - do others agree?

Thanks everyone!
I don't eat my exercise
I gym about 6 times a week - 1 hour cardio and about 30 mins weights
But it feels like my body is hitting back
so by the time I get on the scale - not a gram has moved off my big behind!
It has been over a month now.... sadness all round0 -
If you're consistently eating around 1200 calories (or whatever your net amount is set at) every single day, then alternate or "zig zag" calories. For example, eat 1200 one day, then 1800, then 1350, then 1900, then 1500, 1250, etc. Your body can get used to the same calories and will hold onto fat stores and you can plateau; by zig zagging you basically trick your body into releasing fat stores because of the higher amount of calories. Make sure you maintain the same amount of exercise (don't exercise off the extra calories) and the lbs should start dropping again Once they start to drop you can probably go back to your normal calorie routine. Hope this helps a bit!0

Try eating back your exercise calories for a couple weeks and see what happens?

You're almost always under your calorie goal. And You ARE training like a maniac... Which leads me to believe you probably aren't eating ENOUGH. You burned 1700 cals the other day. Did you eat all of those back? I know we all want to lose this weight as quickly as possible, but it really does take time, and you can't starve your body.
I wish you luck!0 -

agreed! If you are working out that much your body needs more fuel. It need calories to burn calories! If you are not refueling your body especially after your workout, you are not gonna lose the fat because your body is thinking it is not gonna get any more food, so it is holding onto everything! Eat ! It will help!0 -

Let's throw away the stupid scales!!!! LOLOLOLOL0 -
What's your set goal on MFP? 1 lbs, 2 lbs, etc..
Watch what you eat better low sodium and drink plenty of water. More fruits and veggies
Also don't starve yourself, you are already on a deficit so eat all of those calories recommended for you.
Don't forget to exercise too.. Good luck!0 -
thanks everyone!
Will be incorporating all your ideas!
Much love!0 -
I had the same problem before I started MFP... I was training hard and not getting enough food. If you truly want to lose weight you need to eat... but what you eat should preferably be healthy choices. The second I upped my calories was when I joined, within the first week I had already lost 2 pounds. I think the extra food has made all the difference. I was basically starving myself before. Not because I was trying to but because I got too busy and just didn't think about the amount of food I was eating. So I would definately say - increase the calories a little bit. Otherwise change up your workout. If you are so acustomed to your workout, your muscles aren't being challenged. Try something new. I have been doing P90X and the whole concept is Muscle Confusion. It is suppossed to get rid of the plataues!0

I agree with this. I've found this very very helpful!0 -
Definitely eat more, you need to eat more of the right stuff to lose weight. you should eat back at least half your exercise cals to start with, I bet you will start losing.
So many of us have done it, we think if we train insane and literally starve ourselves then we will lose weight. This is the complete opposite of what we should be doing - train more, eat more. And eat often, like 5-6 times a day.
Good luck!

CRYSTAL is right! Eat more quality foods and re-do your macros. You will be amazed at how low your calories are set here on MFP. GOOD LUCK!0

Ahh dont worry, jumped on today and I have lost 1.5 pounds. Seems that by meeting my calorie&protein goals dead on, and switching to weight training rather than cardio did the trick!0 -
i hear ya.. it's been the same for me but i am exercising less then you. I started exercising on Oct 22 and have been doing 5 days a week, 45 min of cardio. I am eating much better and less since i joined this site a week ago but my scale hasn't budged 1 lb either, not even a inch off me either... not sure what i am doing wrong either....0
-
I am right there with you!!!
My scales have not budged for 3 weeks. I sought advice from this forum and was given advice about Net calories (total consumed less exercise calories). So make sure your Net calories (not goal) is always at 1200 i.e. eat your exercise calories.
You could try changing your goal loss to 1/2 lb per week which will increase your allowance of calories and see what happens. I have done this and now have a goal of 1500 per day - which seems loads but I'll have to try and go for it!0 -
Maybe you should take your measurements...This way you'll see if you loose inches but can't see it on the scale.0

Scale weight loss and fat loss aren't the same thing. Scale weight is broken down into two categories: Pounds of fat and pounds of lean body mass. Just because you aren't losing scale weight, it doesn't mean you aren't losing pounds of fat.
Start tracking your body fat percentage and you will see what I'm talking about .
Formula:
Weight x BF%= Pounds of fat
Weight - Pounds of fat = Pounds of lean body mass
Attention: Pounds of lean body mass is the requirement for your body. You want to maintain that number or increase it. If it decreases, it means you are losing lean body mass and you don't want that. Is it possible that you can lose lean body mass, yes. But, work hard not to.
Attention: Pounds of fat is not the amount of scale weight you need to lose or even amount of fat you need to lose.
Once you find out your body fat percentage, I can help you see what healthy body fat percentage number and scale weight number you need to be aiming for.0 -
I thought my scale had broke because it never moved, but after 4 weeks i had a loss! A little one, but a loss all the same!!
Keep up the good week, and results will show!
