I carry most of my weight on my belly. Is there a good dvd or exercise plan that would most help. I have a hard time doing situps because my back starts hurting. What worked for you ppl that have been successful in losing it.

  • Only way to get rid of belly fat is to remain in a constant calorie deficit.

    You cannot spot reduce

Situps will increase the strength / endurance of your abdominal muscles, but it's not going to help you loose belly fat. I'm sure you've heard that abs are made in the kitchen? As Sunshine mentioned, just say in a deficit. Over enough time (I hope - in my case) they should make an appearance.

A body starts in the kitchen. Follow the food pyramid. You can not go wrong there. Don't deprive yourself of anything that you like to eat, unless your doctor tell you that you can't have certain food, because of a health issue. Other than that, work everything into your daily calories. Drink plenty of water. Water helps with losing fat. Cardio helps with losing fat. Losing fat takes time. Scale weight loss and fat loss aren't the same thing.

What kind of cardio and strength workouts are you doing now?

I'm hoping losing more body fat and keeping exercising will result in a flatter tummy after a while! It's a lot flatter than when I started but haven't been doing anything special, so I just have faith it'l come off even if it's the last place to disappear from haha

    Good luck!

Eating a low carb diet is the best way to lose belly fat. Having a lot of fat on your stomach compared with the rest of your body is a sign that you have been producing a lot of insulin. Cutting carbs will lower your blood sugar which will lower you insulin levels. I've lost 30 pounds low carbing and pretty much all of it has come off my stomach.

It would be nice to lose weight in one area! I need to lose weight everywhere but mainly my belly. I've heard commercials/infomercials saying that weight in your belly is from stress... and they have this pill. I've also read about certain health issues causing weight gain mainly in your belly. I can't remember which one maybe PCOS.

I guess it's mainly genetics. My mom has a similar body type.... but my sister ha a completely different body type.

My legs are pretty skinny compared to my upper body. The advice people have given sounds good. I really don't want to lose weight from my butt....but it's hard to control where you lose weight.

I haven't been able to lose my belly fat yet so I'm interested in other peoples advice.

    Good luck!

I do alot of sit ups, but after 2 days i dont feel that pain from the muscles in my belly. I have 2 kids via C-Section and i cant push that fat away. My first c-section was the antique one, down the middle of the belly. Yeah horrible. The second one on the bikini line (nice) but now i am having someting like two breast on the bottom of my belly. LOL
They are so soft, felt like i can punch a hole in them and squeeze them out. I am thinking of a tummy tuck. Honestly.

when I did 5 am workouts and had sauna belt on and sauna vest/ hot pants on etc and really sweated loads was when I seem to have dropped the most inches from tummy and waist. one week managed a solid week of these workouts and lost loads of inches... not as much of scales as muscles were holding lot of water but after a rest week that dropped too.

Recently I've had back injury so not been able to do this for a few weeks, I've carried on with diet and still losing but my measurements haven't changed.

I'm hoping to get back to them soon to get those last few inches off, its working for me but maybe my body just loses weight from middle first? My arms don't have much fat on them to lose, after self propelling a chair for 6 years they are quite shapely anyway!

Reducing carbs at same time also helped my tummy to shrink so wasn't eating wheat based cereals, bread, then pasta, potatoes or rice everyday for dinner. I just cut all them completely for first few weeks then started re-introducing things like toast once a week, or a few potato's with a meal or a mini yorkie pud with sunday dinner and this has worked for me and I'm still losing with 2 treat meals a week.

If you are doing sit ups, make sure you do reverse ones, lying on your stomach and raising you lower back as well, or you will damage/weaken your back.

Not that sit ups help. You need to lower your body fat in general, that's really all that works. abs exercises are useful to introduce a bit of definition/strength, but an overall reduction in fat is the main thing.

There is a lot of good advice out there on how to lose that belly fat and the bottom line is summarized as follows:

    (1) Exercise regularly for your entire body, but there are exercises that focus on specific areas of the body (see the JeFit Application).
    (2) Diet: Not just lower calories, but proper nutrition is important, i.e., stay away from processed foods, lower your carb intake, sugary drinks, etc.)
    (3) Certain foods do contribute to increase in belly fat more than some. I purchased a book off Amazon.com on getting rid of belly fat and I follow some of its guidance.
    (4) Stay away from the TV Ads and products that promise losing belly fat with a miracle pill ... You have to put in the work to get the results.
