so im looking into eating 2000 calories a day no more than this and then doing exercise each day. of a burn of 700-800
i should still lose weight right.

im thinking if i lose weight on this then i should be able to stick to it for the rest of my life.

  • 1200 calories a day isnt adequate to live off of and its also not realistic to live every day with. 1200 calories is a footlong meatball or tuna sandwhich from subway AKA not very much food at all for a whole day. If you try and starve yourself your body will react by converting everything to fat storage and you will just retain fat and water. plus its also not good to take in that small amount of food as far as needed sugar and vitamins.

dont starve yourself it will just kick you in the butt. and it sucks being hungry all the time. just sayin.

In theory yes. But you need to factor in rest days to let your muscles recover etc. Too much cardio without adequate recovery could have adverse affects.

What will you do on days when you can't exercise? Eat less?

Or what happens as you lose weight and get fitter - you will burn calories at a slower rate then, so will you exercise more, or adjust your diet again?

I know people say weight loss is just 'calories in vs calories out' but my opinion is it's a bit more complicated than that. Or at least your needs/goals change over time.

I think you'd burn out trying to exercise that much every day, and like Rachel mentioned, you'll have to exercise even more to burn that much as you lose weight and become more fit. It's not very realistic.
  • It is possible but 700-800 calories at a low weight/maintaining weight is hard to burn (the lighter you weigh the less calories needed). For me that would be a good 1 hour and 30 minutes on the treadmill which I don't always have the time or motivation to do.

If you can fit it into your lifestyle then go for it. I usually just keep my intake at 1200 and on days where I do activity I'll eat accordingly.

I think that if you are eating 2000 calories a day then its good even if you are burning off 800. I am also trying to stay on 2000 a day. It is a bit difficult because eating more food is leading to wanting to eat even more food. It's just been a few days since I tried and I haven't done well yet. But still I am insisting on staying on 2000. I think most normal weight people eat about 2000 calories a day and go about their daily routines not worrying about what they burned or ate.
