Dont you just HATE when people say that. some may say it because they mean it. some say it because they are uncomfortable with their own weight, and you--being smaller than they--get offended and say no way, or others just say it to be nice!
ok, so i am 175lbs, 5'6" and had 2 kids. before kids i was a comfotable 140. now yes this was partial high school weight, but also i maintained while being in my early 20s before i got pregnant. i hear it all the time "you cant get to what you used to be, you had kids"....but i'm sorry, i just dont buy that!...yes i may have bigger boobs and wider hips, but that shouldnt make such a huge difernce in weight. i am now understanding after 25 years old and 2nd child it is so much tougher to loose the weight (going on a 2 year jounrney here!!)......but common'!!.....
so.....i DO need to loose weight. i am considered in the "overweight" catagory, i dont like my size or look in the mirror and i dont think its the impossible to get down CLOSE to my orginal weight.....now is it??
so i am partially venting here  but coming from experienced ladies out there, did you get back to your pre-pregnancy weight? i am a curvy woman, always have been, but when i had children, it became even moreso!....does that change things for me?

I started actually dieting (changed my lifestyle, really) at 187 and a size 16. I am 5'6" as well. I have 3 kids and started my first pregnancy at 168 and a size 14. My high school low weight was 145 and a size 12.
Everyone told me I looked fine at my high weight (218), even though my BMI said I was obese, and according to the navy's measurements (my hub is Navy) I was 43% body fat. I wore a size 22 at that point.
Getting down to 187 after my 3rd, people told me I looked great and didn't need to lose anything.
I have always been curvy, it's genetic. But now I feel like I have a more athletic look going on, with curves in more of the right places.
Btw, with hard work and dedication, I am now about 140# and wear a size 6. I am officially in better shape than I was in high school, with a better body.
If you want it, go get it!0 -
I am 5'7", I was always around 9 stone (126 lbs) for years and years. had my first child at 21 went straight back to 9 stone, I'm 29 now, had my 2nd child at 28 and now crept up to 10.5 stone (146lb). people always telling me I don't need to lose weight, but I do!! I have an awful pot belly and I hate it. I don't need to be back to 9 stone, but I'd like to lose this belly!! It is harder the older you get I think, especially if you don't have lots to lose, it seems a lot harder to shift!
edit to add: I've been told I won't ever be able to get near what I was, but I don't see why not... if I work hard then I think I can
Another edit to add, I was 156 at my highest weight (unpregnant lol)0 -
Course you can!! It will be harder and the weight will be distributed differently but you can do it!! I have seen people 6 weeks postnatal who are a size 6! If that!! It can be done! Just believe it!! If I can't get down to pre baby size I will be in trouble! I was 15 1/2 stone when I got pregnant!0

Hey, im 25 and have 2 children (youngest just turned 1) and i have a LOT more weight to loose then you but am determined to get into my pre pregnancy size 12's, i have even kept my old jeans hehe.
When my hubby was in the army the wives all dieted whilst they were serving away from home and in 6 months one of the girls who like me had gone up to a size 18 during pregnancy went right down to her pre pregnancy size 10's so its definately do-able.
She couldn't fit in her 10's when she first lost it all but with more exercise and toning she got there and i WILL do it too.
Good luck lovely, you can do it xx0 -
I'm 43 had a baby at 38 and now weight the lightest since I have in my 20's. Having babies only has something to do with it in terms of being so busy you don't have time to plan your own meals and exercise, once you have found ways to overcome those challenges its not an excuse to be heavier than before youhad the baby. ESPECIALLY not at 25!!!! Don't be old before your time girl!0

I get this too! Especially if I mention I want to lose around 45lbs! Haha
I don't know why people say things like this, they say I look 'slim' etc, but my bmi is overweight!
When I was at my lowest weight my waist was 24" and my ribs/hip bones were very visible, but I was still classed as almost overweight! So maybe because there are so many overweight people in todays world, it's becoming the standard? Like at my lowest, people would call me 'ridiculously thin', but I was only a few lbs away from being overweight!
Or maybe they're just lying? I don't know! It's very annoying though! My boyfriend always says "You don't need to lose weight" - I think it's because he loves junk food too much, and we eat together every meal, so he's had to cut down a lot too! Haha0 -

I like your attitude0 -
I love all your posts! i know if you want it it can be done. a lot of people say "Well stop worrying about the number on the scale and worry about how you feel and what you see in the mirror". and i get that. but i like my weight around the 140s. i was small, thin, but still curvy, and i was in a size 9 pants!, right now i am 175 ad where 10-13 depending on what type of pants. so i know i am more muscluar than before children bc i am close to pant size but weight is a bit off. when i look in the mirror i hate my belly, back fat, and butt. other than that all the rest is fine if i just trim up and loose some more inches. my husband loves the way i look but he loved me at 140, at 210, and now. but i just dont like the way it looks and i want to FEEL sexy again!
thank you ALL for your comments! we soooo got this!!!0 -
Don't worry so much about the scale is true measure your mass!0

It is ridiculous that you should not expect to get to your prepregnancy weight if it is a healthy weight for your height/frame size. Go for it and don't let the nay-sayers stop you.0

I hate when people say I don't need to lose weight- Or worse, "all you need is to feel happy with your reflection!" I know it comes from a good place-mostly. And possibly I don't need to lose weight, but I feel I want to tone up more...and the being happy with my reflection...well that is work in progress;) The days I bust out a killer workout&eat well, I feel confident. But I dislike people telling me how to feel! Especially about my fitness, health&confidence goals.0
