loss of smell and taste (recently)

Has anyone experienced this? I am really freaking out because I can not smell food or taste flavors. This has been going on for 3 days and I donot have a cold..advice please!

    Are you by chance depressed or have SAD(seasonal affective disorder)

    No Nothing. I only just began to realise that I could not taste or smell anything. Yesterday while I was the one to cook Thanksgiving dinner, I had no idea what anything tasted like! Thank God everyone seemed to enjoy the food!

    No. I am under a lot of pressure. I take care of my Mom whom has advanced Alzheimers and my Dad, and I have a 3 year old son to boot! Does something like depression effect taste?

    My Mom had the same thing - waited 3 months before going to Dr - then had another 3 months before brain surgery to remove a tumor. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR.

    You haven't bumped your head hard on anything have you? Apparently the part in your brain that controls smell is quite fragile. Just a thought...
