HRM's transmitting to gym equipment

Hiya MFPers,

I currently have a Pro-Form HRM, and it transmits info to the equipment (ellipticals, treadmills) at the gym to show my current heart rate. Is it safe to assume that ALL HRMs do the same thing? I may be getting a new HRM, and was hoping it would do the same thing.

If anyone's curious, I'm considering a Polar FT60, and a friend is trying to talk me into a Garmin.

Thanks!

  • I just got a new Polar and it also transmits to all machines, so did my old Polar.

Not ALL of them do, but most with the chest strap do. I have a Polar FT7 and it does.
  • My polar FT4 does. I think it depends on the equipment too, but if it transmits with what you have now, it probably will with the polar.

It depends on the equipment and and the HRM. My polar does but the machines also state they are polar compatable.

All Polars do with chest strap...most machines say so right on top.

Gym cardio pieces have Polar receivers inserted into their consoles. A lot of different chest strap brands work with the Polar receiver as well.

To my knowledge, Garmin chest straps DO NOT work with Polar receivers, so buyer beware.
