How to count calories in...

So I am wondering, how on earth am I supposed to count my calories in certain foods? Yesterday we went for dinner to a family members home. Everything they cook/bake they make as healthy as possible, which is fantastic.. But how am I supposed to know how many calories are in something like a homemade pumpkin cookie (reduced sugar and salt, pure pumpkin, delicious!!) or in the chicken tortilla pizza we had?? (Pizza made on whole wheat tortilla... lots of veggies, chicken, also delicious!).
And today, we had home made mushroom soup for lunch..
We often eat stirfry's as well.
I just have no idea how to know how many calories are in these things?!

i'm sure you can plug in pumkin and it should give you a calorie count, or google it. That's what I do if I'm stuck. I love google. I turn to it when ever I'm in a pickle or I ask my wife.0

I have the same problem. Every Sunday, we go to my in-laws for the day and eat...and they're Persian, so you can imagine the difficulty I have trying track that day!! I try to break it all down, piece by piece if possible. If I can't do that, I try to find the closest subsitute in the database. Being close is better than not tracking at all... Good luck!0

That is tough, I just guess to the best of my ability based on the individual ingredients. The best way would be to ask for the recipes so you could enter them under your own recipe section. Sometimes you can search and find something similar.0

You won't be able to be accurate, unless you ask for the ingredients and quantity, and make your own recipe. Time consuming unless you plan on eating it again. Then it might be worth it.
Otherwise fine similar type food (maybe not pumpkin cookies, but some other low sugar0
