Your Favorite NSV

With so many of us still wallowing in a little bit of self hate over Thanksgiving's over-indulgence, I figured we could all use a little reminder that the numbers on the scale are not the end all and be all of this journey. Let's put out a little bit of encouragement to get us right back on track - I'd like to know what your personal favorite Non-Scale Victory is!

My most recent NSV happened Thanksgiving evening. After dinner, not only did I not head straight to the couch to put up my tired and aching feet, but I actually went for a walk to burn off some of the meal's calories. It wasn't a long walk, but just having the energy and desire to go out and stretch my legs and burn a few calories is a huge victory for me. By the time I was 13 I was wearing women's plus sized clothing, and by the time I was in high school I weight 300 lbs. Having the energy and desire to move is something that really means a lot to me. I've not lost much weight yet (compared to how much I need to lose), but my work outs have given me the strength and energy to do more and more. For this I am so thankful! THAT, to me, is a huge NSV!

Now, I want to hear YOUR favorite Non Scale Victory! Share it with us, lets get some inspiration flowing!

At my local Wal-Mart, some dip**** architect decided that it'd be a great idea to thread the electric mains right through the middle of the biggest aisle. As a result, there's these two large metal poles right as you walk inside. They're not very far apart. About a foot. Maybe less. I saw a 5 year-old girl turn sideways to slide between them. I decided to follow suit.

I slid right through with ease. Only my tits and my *kitten* touched the poles.

    Giggity.

Running my first Half Marathon! I NEVER thought I'd run let alone run 13.1 miles...I've lost some weight in the process and I share alot about my journey on my blog. www.runningsforthebirds.blogspot.com

Last month I went to the store and was wondering if I'd dropped a pants size. Turned out I'd changed more then that. I walked out of the store with a bag holding two pair of jeans in the size I wore when i was a skinny teenager.

Had a USO celebration party at our country club. They asked all the veterans to come with their uniforms. I took mine out after being in storage for 20 years. It fit perfectly. Went to the party and I was the only one able to wear the uniform they got out of the service in. People asked if I had gone out and purchased it for the party. "No, this is the same one I wore 20 years ago!" Big NSV for me, could not have gotten into it the year prior.

Mine is also Thanksgiving related....After dinner, instead of sinking into the couch, watching football and waiting for dessert, I went outside to run around and wrestle with the kids - even better, they got tired first. That's what it's all about for me!

    I love me some NSV's!

Well, I wouldn't say this is my "favorite NSV", but it was an unexpected one....

When I started this journey I was wearing a 2x. (Plus size dept.)

Yesterday morning I went shopping, and on my way out of JCPenney I saw an adorable, black wool Liz Claibourne coat on sale. I wasn't in need of a coat, and wasn't going to buy it, but since it was so cute I had to try it on. Which I did. I had no trouble buttoning it. I looked in the mirror. It fit me quite nicely! Not tight anywhere! It was a MEDIUM!
I smiled, hung it back on the hanger, and left. I was very happy just to fit in it !

When I started almost four moths ago I could barely do 15min of light aerobics before fainting, now I'm doing hour and a half daily workout routine and I feel really good afterwards, now I'm looking forward to do weights training. Plus, I have lost 2 pant sizes.

Still a long road ahead but it's something.

That's fantastic! :D Congratulations! I'm very much looking forward to being able to run some day. At my size it's a bit dangerous for my knees and joints, but I'll get their eventually! Thanks for the inspiration!

hahah! That's AWESOME! I bet you made a lot of the others there jealous that they couldn't fit into their original uniform too! Congratulations!

That's great news, my friend! :D Pant sizes are always a joy to drop! I love that you can work out for an hour and a half now! I'm looking forward to being able to work out for that long as well!
