Hey :) should you work off extra calories before or after you eat them? Does it matter?

Doesn't matter, your calorie intake should balance at the end of the day. But they say your metabolism works better after sport ^^
  • Don't think it matters, I sometimes go negative for brief moments before I eat my first/second meals and it hasn't killed me yet
  • It's just because I usually don't have time to work out at night and I don't want to store all the junk because I can't work it off after i eat it. I always make sure to work out during the day if i know I will be going over my limit for the day. Will this be okay to work out before it?
  • Nah don't worry about that, when you work out you use the energy stored in your muscles first, then as long as you're hydrated nicely your liver will start on fat reserves.

On the other side of the coin, your excess energy will be stored as fat and energy in the muscle... can't remember the name of the muscle energy but it sounds like gly-something

Oh some people say to eat before/after a workout because the muscles absorb more nutrients so that might be worth thinking about... i think carbs and protien 3:1 or something... google will know
  • Okay so will i not store the fat if i work out then eat more?
  • If you worked out and burned 200 calories then ate 200 calories worth of food then nothing bad would happen, the body uses fat as a buffer for these things so you wouldn't gain or lose anything... at least that's my understanding
  • thank you muchly :)

You need to stop worrying about storing fat. Your body doesn;t put on a kg in fat over night, you know ^^. Even though our bodies are pretty amazing, they don't do magic. If you eat the stuff in the eve and work out the next day, you will be just fine. Don't stress yourself about this. Is that still about the choc fudge cake? lol I am sure no one minds if you don't eat it or eat something less calorofic instead ^^
  • Yes it is about the cake but i was curious too because i only have time to work out during the day, not at night. So mostly curious :)
