okay so i just found out *officially* last week that i have an iron deficiency, i have thought it for quite awhile though...
I started using some tablets about half week ago, but they haven't kicked in yet so have NO energy.
My iron levels are REALLY bad (passing out cos of it), should I go to the gym or skip it?

What does your doc say? Seems like this is a question for him or her...0

I'm very iron deficient. Well, not as bad as I was in the past. I was in the hospital for an iron transfusion and taking 3 iron tablets a day ongoing for several months (with iron injections into my butt for a while).
Honestly? Iron takes a LONG time to build up. Half a week is not enough time to get any results. It took about 6 months of me being on 2-3 pills a day before my hemoglobin went up above 100 (previously 71), and my energy is still a little low.
Sorry to hear you're passing out. I remember having a hard time walking more than a block of two before seeing spots and having to sit down in the past. Really take it easy, and I recommend asking the doctor both about exercising, and about getting iron injections (they helped a lot compared to the tablets!).
Good luck0 -
if you're passing out on a regular basis because of your iron level I would suggest you speak with your doctor ASAP to ensure that there isn't another issue.
I've have iron-deficiency anemic my whole life due to low levels of ferretin (the reserves) so I take supplements called Ferrasorb which are made by Thorne vitamins. You should be able to get them from a naturopath or perhaps a health store that carries holistic vitamins.0 -
my levels are extremley low..take your tablets with orange juice and definately dont over do it when you feel really lousy...i learnt from that the hard way and it took awhile to get back on track...
what tablet strength are you on? because they take a couple of weeks to quick in and start to feel the benefits of them0
