I'm interested in purchasing a wii (I keep hearing about "wii fitness") so I dont know if it all comes together or what? Anyway, can someone please set me on the right path.

I understand I need the Wii, so but what exactly will I need to get in order to do "wii fitness" does the board come with or is that a seperate purchase? any wii fit games u suggest?

I've read alot about it and alot of people say its a great way to get in shape if you dont have the luxury of going to a gym -- I haven't found any negative reviews so far but if you've tried it i'd like your opinion :D

you need to buy the wii console...usually can negotiate some games in there with it.. just dance would be a good one

then you need the board...and wii fit plus is the game I use the most...gives you idea of calories burned.... if buying board new, usually comes with wii sports....also good...

    ooooops sorry double post!

no biggie :) I already knew I needed the wii console, I was just abit confused about what exactly 'wii fit' was and if the board (balancing board I assume) came with it or was a seperate purchase :D

Any games that are a must have that you'd recommend?

I have one, it was too much effort to turn on, turn on the game, get on the board, collaborate, etc etc etc... I didn't really enjoy it, sorry to say and I'm a bit embarrassed that I wasted the money on it.

Also, while you can 'work out' with it, it's very stop start, and once the 'game' has stopped you have to choose another. It's a bit of fun, and good to play on.. but I wouldn't use it as my main, serious, weight loss tool.

(That said, I've heard Wii EA Sports Active is better... but I chose not to spend more on it)

bummer. I thought it was going to be alot of fun and I'd actually burn some cals with it =/ so its really not all that good for serious weight loss =/ I have like 50lbs to lose and thought maybe that would help push me along.

We got a package deal with our Wii Console that included an extra controller for both hands (so we could both play some of the sports games at the same time) and got the Wii Fit Board separately. My hubby and I have been using it since May and between us we have lost 170 pounds, so I would say it is VERY worth it. The best thing about the Wii is you don't need to have a lot of space to use it and you can slide it under the couch when you aren't using it so it is always handy. The Wii Fit Plus has Yoga, Strength, Balance, Aerobic and Training Plus so you don't have to do the same thing every day and they are at various skill and "sweat" levels depending on how challenged you want to be.

Don't be too down at heart, it's definitely a YMMV thing .. I have found I prefer to run and be outdoors, so it wasn't really going to suit me anyway :) But you did ask for opinion.

PS we have Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sport, Wii Sport Resort, they are all fun, but I try to do the Wii Fit Plus a minimum of 30 minutes a day and usually do closer to 60 minutes. You could probably rent it if you want to check it out.

your opinion was very much appreciated, I was just thinking like 'oh it will be a total waste of money' lol cause ive psyched myself up about purchasing it. I'm kinda so-so. I like to do whatever, altho I would much rather walk outside than on my tredmill (hence the reason it has so much dust on it) but I do love to dance & workout in the livingroom to music =/ I dont nessesarily hate my tredmill but when I'm walking I feel the need to have someone to talk too so I do much better at the park with my cousin/best friend.

So idk =/ I'd hate the waste my money on it but even if I didnt use it my fiance would probably love it & my son.

I bought Wii fit and other stuff after a after a few days was done with it...........but what it did do was that it inspired me to go to the Gym and do better stuff!

So, I started Gym and I that I was losing too quickly...! It was fun!!

Started Cycling and went outdoors! It was good fun! It never felt so good before!

So Wii Fit is highly recommended in case weather is inclement and you are forced indoors. Otherwise step out of home! Its awesome!!

I love the EA Sports Active 2. It is a killer workout when I have it set on the hardest level. Comes with a thigh sensor and forearm sensor that senses your movements and heartrate, etc. I love it.

I have the kinect and the wii - I prefer the kinect. I don't use this as my main work out but it's a good top up.

When I first did my weight loss journey 8 months ago I lost 14 lb. but I quit in March and gained 7 lb. of it back. I was eating healthy at 1200 calories a day limit, drinking water, doing wii fit (advanced step, 10 min. run, and some strength training exercises) and wii active 30 day challenge (my fave was the boxing and the running and kickups along with some arm lifts and stretches). I started the weight loss in the beginning of february 2011 and stopped at the end of march due to my daughter being put in the hospital. I hope this helps.

i have the wii fit plus and I think it's a great tool. I'll be honest and say I haven't been on it in well over a month...but I'm gonna blame that on University and essays and...you get the picture :) I'm looking forward to having the time to get back on it, but I've started an outdoor fitness class which I love so I don't think it would ever be my sole exercise. I guess it depends on how seriously you use it - if you put the work in you'll see the results and it'll be worth the money, if you don't, it won't! You can usually (in the UK anyway) get a bundle of the wii console and A. N. Other thing - often the wii fit, or with a couple of games or something else. So it's worth looking out for something like that cause it could save you maybe the whole cost of the wii fit game & board doing it that way. My only complaint about the wii fit plus is that it pretty much forces you to weigh in every day...and that's preceisely what I've always understood to be the wrong move. Other than that I love it and would definately recommend it; and I suppose if you found you didn't use it you could always sell it on second hand and get some of your money back at least :)
