I know I'm not alone in this! I have seen loads of status updates from my fellow MFPers saying that they are struggling! Well Hellllooooo Me tooo! I have all good intentions and start the day well but as the day progresses and the cold wind, the greyness and dampness comes across my mood and I start craving chocolate, stodgy food and just generally Baaaaad naughty food!
My portion sizes are creeping up. I'm drinking way more tea and coffee and generally failing on every count!
I wouldn't mind but actually the weather isn't bad!!! Here in the UK we've seen the sun! Its actually not THAT cold either - nevertheless I am still eating!
I can't find the motivation to keep up the exercise. I want to put on my baggy leggins, snuggly jumper and comfy slippers and cozy up on the sofa!
So my fellow MFPers - if this is you - you are not alone!! If you've managed to crack it - give me some tips please!
Have a lovely week x

I really feel your pain, winter is just a crappy time of year for some strange reason... I don't mind the cold either. Only thing that's keeping me floating at the moment is exercise, if I didn't go out and run/cycle I'd be piling on the pounds :sad:0

I stiffen up bad in winter usually, (though its been milder this year for longer) so once stiffness has set in for day if try to exercise then I always end up pulled muscles.
What I've started doing for cold mornings is having heating come on early so waking up to warm house and then get straight up and do some stretches while I'm still kinda floppy from been in bed all night,, if its really freezing I might get under shower first and warm myself up from the inside! ..and stops my muscles stiffening up too fast... then I go in lounge and turn on my wii and get stuck into some exercise for an hour or two.... otherwise by the time I've woken up (if get up later) had breakfast, got dressed, took dog out and got back... the stiffness has set in for the day and I'm already cold and tired from been sat on my mobility scooter for an hour outside whilst walking my dog around the village/fields.
Then it doesn't matter if I don't get anything else done for the rest of the day! I've usually burned around 600-800 first thing.0 -
Well, it rains here about 9 months out of the year...so I am no stranger to the dull and dreary winter weather. When I am feeling unmotivated I get out and go do something! My trips to the gym....no matter how much I may not want to go, always make me feel better once I get moving. And if it's pouring down rain and I don't want to do anywhere, then I throw in a DVD workout. Once you find a fun one, it doesn't take much to convince yourself to just do it! I just got Hip Hop Abs and enjoy it so much I just had to do it tonight even though it was 11pm and I had already gone to the gym today!
Last winter I started having those "comfort" food cravings too....so, I started cooking. I was craving chocolate chip cookies, so I took the regular (not good for you recipe) and started playing with it. Replacing the flour with whole wheat flour, adding oats and wheat germ, replaced the white sugar with Splenda or just tried cutting out sugar and using apple sauce, etc. It was fun and I came out with some fun and healthy alternatives that kept me occupied, but also helped me with those cravings. I was able to indulge a little bit, but feel good about what I was eating.
So, just get creative! Make this fun!0 -
Thanks Guys! I need to start making my soups again, I think that might help too!0
