We all know which direction this thread is going to head, and once there, it will be deleted, so keep this clean and help this lady out guys....

With that being said, this is going to vary considerably from guy to guy.

Best Gifts in no particular order
    My daughter
    Rolex
Roses (Seriously sentimental I know, but no woman had ever given me flowers before, i found it sweet)

While I cant afford a rolex at this time, I'm considering a watch. He collects them. Of course he says he doesn't want anything.(why do men do this?)

If he collects watches.. it will be tough to get him one he really wants.. unless you know it already.

If he says he wants nothing.. that means you should get yourself something that looks great and go out for the night with him... and bring him home and put on something that looks even greater....

you could get him a test drive in a classic car, or some equally cool experience. check out the websites like zozi and groupon.

I always give and receive gifts that are personal. For example, instead of buying something huge and expensive, I buy a couple of small things that I know the person likes and would appreciate. I love giving things that makes people laugh and that I know they will use!

My best gift so far was in three parts; a really cute t-shirt, a necklace, and a book called "Everything men know about women" - which is completely blank

I collect watches as well. Please make sure you have some idea of the direction of his collection, the LAST thing I would want to receive is a watch that I find to be ugly or cheap. I would be stuck with wearing a PoS to make my woman happy, or not wearing and making her pissed.

For my 40th Birthday, my wife put together an album for me. Of her. Lingerie. Her girlfriend came over and they apparently spent a lot of time and imagination putting it together. Sexty and very tastefully done. It was a huge surprise when she gave it to me. That was 17 years ago. It is still in my nightstand and I still pull it out to look at it.

It's Cyber Monday and I'm bored and feeling a bit generous, so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you. The absolute best place to go for gift ideas for men is the following website:

    www.uncrate.com

The website is a collection of all items any man would want and they are shockingly accurate. Here's a great example:
    http://uncrate.com/stuff/crovel/

I can't think of a single applicable use I would have for that tool, but there's nothing in the world I've ever wanted so badly.

That said, mosey around the website for a little bit [it's a great way to kill a few hours at work, perhaps?] and you'll likely come across something. As an emotional black hole, I'd have a hard time suggesting something with sentimental value, but I will say that you shouldn't get him a watch. I know that it's the thought that counts in gift giving, but jewelry is never a good gift idea for a man nor a woman. Sure, it's easy when you get a simple strand of pearls or simple gold links--something timeless and charming--but the two major problems with watches are the following:
    1. Everyone has a different taste.
    2. Watches are a status symbol for men. A $300 Bulova watch won't cut it, especially if he's a serious collector.

Hope this in any way aided, although a quick review leads me to believe that my elitism probably overshadows any realistic help within. Cheers.

One of the best gifts I have ever received is a chocolate brown leather tri-fold Mulberry wallet. I use it pretty much every day, the leather was aged beautifully and it is still going strong after 6 years of use. Love it.

Other stuff I have appreciated include a pair of Hunter Wellington Boots (tall) and a funky Desigual jumper. Really, I appreciate items I wouldn't usually think of buying myself but when I use them I think "how did I live before having this?"

this is a good idea, and it can be very tastefully done as well. When my husband was deployed I went this route and investigated photographers that do these types of photos, maybe a calendar? Mine was american/military themed so a theme is always nice way to go.
