To my sweet tooth peeps that have had success losing weight, how often did you let yourself have a piece of chocolate, candy etc. on your weightloss journey? Was it a piece everyday? Every week? I let myself have a small portion every other day or so. I'm wondering if this will affect my weightloss or is it ok as long as I stay in my calorie range?

If you stay within your calorie goal range, you'll be fine.

Hi!! I have a sweet tooth too! Managed to factor in something every day. Most days I stay within range and have lost 22lbs sibce January this year. Goal weight was 130....now at 127.2 so it works for me! Feel free to view my diary.....it's not perfect ....

It is fine as long as you are under your calorie range. I do not have a sweet tooth, I am a sugar addict! What has worked for me is to pay attention to serving size. A lot of people that eat sweets are not mindful of serving size and do not know how many calories they are actually eating in no time. Also, if I want something really bad I tell myself that is ok to have it, as long as I have 'earned' it. So if I am eating 300 worth of chocolate cake... then I have to burn those 300 calories. And of course... I try not to have that stuff around at all :)

Personally, never. That's slope is WAAAAAY too slippery.

But as others have said... as long as it's within your calorie/macro goals, you should be ok. My problem is that I can't keep it from snowballing out of control. 1 scoop of ice cream each week quickly turns into a half gallon each night.

Just about every day. I just make sure it fits in my calories for the day.

My problem has always been not being able to stop at one. But a couple things have really helped me in a healthy way. I make a fruit smoothie sweetened with Peanut Butter & Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams as my "dessert" nearly every day. And I almost every day have a few pieces of Green & Black's 85% cocoa dark chocolate. It's very rich and unlike any dark chocolate I've ever had,

But if you can keep it to just a piece of candy a day or whatever, as long as you're within your calories, you should be fine.

I have it every day too (or more or less). Try to stick within my goals though. x

After I backslid and gained 20 pounds of the 53 I lost by "treating" myself I decided to put myself on probation when I started MFP. My rule was after 90 days of being "clean" I could have an occasional treat. After 90 days I would have lost some weight and have built some new habits. I think I made about 80 days before my birthday came around and I had chocolate mousse.

But for me, My name is Susan and I am a sugarholic. I can't allow sugar into my life every single day or it will take over! I cut out sugar and white flour from my diet simply to stop my cravings for junk food and it worked after about 2 weeks the cravings were gone. So in order for them to stay gone, I can't just have a little bit of "heroin" each day. Maybe not even each week. That is my old habit rearing it's ugly head. If I expect to change my body, I have to change my eating. I love chocolate, so I put Hersheys cocoa powder into my oatmeal,my coffee, and buy 70% dark chocolate to nibble on as it is self limiting and will make me feel sick if I eat too much.

I can't have it as "candy" or "cake" or "cookies" and expect my new healthy eating plan to "take".

    Good luck to you!
