I'm trying to find the best way to get body fat %, I have a scale with the metal on it that allows body fat % measurement. Are those accurate? Just curious the best way to find out. Thanks so much for your help.

My scale estimates at 27% but I just used an online calculator that utilizes height/weight/measurements and it said 23.8%. It's a popular one that gets posted a lot and I finally tried it out. I feel like the online calculator is probably more accurate since it takes measurements into account.

i have a scale like that, it never freaks out and jumps by a large percent, but you almost have to go to a medical facility to get a super accurate reading. I use my scale to see where my diet and exercise affects my percent values daily0

It's not BMI, it's body fat %, which takes muscle mass into account. :-)0 -
That projected by body fat at 18.9%. Seems pretty unlikely to me.0

I trust the old fashioned method of looking at height, weight, age, sex, and body measurements. Seems the most accurate. There are online calculators for that but I'm also sure that a boffin or two will pop along and give you a hand.0

Get you a set of calipers. vitaminshoppe.com has a pretty good one for $25.99. It does all the calculations for you. I do 3 measurements then take the average because it is a little tough doing it to yourself. It will be more accurate than the scale type.
