I'm sure this has already been posted some place..but let's go for it again. I'm wondering what kinds of food you normally eat during the day. What fills you up..keeps you full..satisfies you etc. My daily food is getting to be a bit boring and I'd LOVE some new ideas for some healthy meals. A typical day for me is like so:
Breakfast- Oatmeal (plain) with a bit of fruit mixed in. OR Cereal (life, bran flakes, cheerios, etc)
Lunch- Chicken (chunked or shredded) in a tortilla or on a salad or bagel. An apple or Orange. Some raisins yogurt.
Dinner- Veggie Stir fry with bits of steak or chicken mixed in.
Snacks- (not all on the same day..just things I usually reach for) Celery and peanut butter, crackers with cheese, fruit and cheese, carrot sticks, grapes, or those Mini Cake treats. (Betty Crocker Mini's??? So good and only 150 calories! Delicious!)
So...what do you usually grab when you're hungry?

Breakfast - Cereal / Leftovers from last night's dinner.
Lunch - Tukey sandwich + a little snack, like goldfish or something.
Dinner - PASTA PASTA PASTA. Very filling and low cal.
Snacks - Things you can buy in snack packs at the store.0 -
my "meals" and "snacks" have the same calories normally. between 250-300cals. so I'll have steel cut oats with light soy milk, almonds and strawberries mixed together for breakfast, then whole wheat pita with hummus, yogurt and strawberries for snack. lunches lately are amy's or ethnic gourmet indian foods, as long as they are under 350 cals. I pretty much eat the same things everyday. I am addicted to pita and hummus so whenever I'm hungry I can grab that and know it's good for me.0

I like repetition so my meals don't vary too much.
Breakfast---oatmeal, applesauce (either homemade or no sugar added from the store), banana or omelet with peppers, onion, tomato and whole wheat toast
Lunch (our big meal) broiled fish (salmon, cod, halibut) or turkey burger or chicken breast, salad (spinach, peppers, radish, tomato, onion, cucumber, carrots, alfalfa sprouts) with spray dressing, steamed fresh or frozen vegetable (spinach, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower)
Dinner---Isagenix protein shake
Snacks: Kashi cereal with soy milk or nonfat yogurt
Pita with hummus or cashew butter or fresh veggies
fruit (apple, banana, grapes)
V-8 low sodium0 -
Breakfast - 1 egg and 1 white, in omelette style with various spices thrown in, small microwaved potato, apple, tea, 20 oz water
And coffee when I get to work (sweetener and fat-free creamer, but no sugar)
Snack (during work week) - carrot and cucumber, almonds
Lunch (during the work week) - 3 oz can of tuna, big salad that I make myself (Salad includes spinach leaves, iceberg lettuce, red and yellow or red and orange pepper, cucumber, spring onion, cucumber and tomato), pear, apple
Snack (work week) - apple, almonds, Atkins breakfast bar
Dinner (varies) - boneless, skinless chicken breast, broccoli or sometimes a meat with broccoli
Occasionally I'll eat popcorn for snack (fresh in the microwave, using a microwave popper, not the microwave popcorn), and occasionally another Atkins bar. And a few other items depending on what I have left in calories.
On weekends, it changes some, but I still try to stay within my cals.0 -
thanks everyone!! these are great ideas!0

Breakfast - Special K Satisfaction with cinnamon sprinkled on it (so delicious) or yogurt with granola and blueberries
Mid-Morning snack - apple or banana
Lunch - Cucumber sandwich (mayo and cucumber on wholewheat bread) with a side salad (spinach with sliced almonds and a vinaigrette)
Mid-Afternoon snack - baby carrots and a fibersource bar
Dinner - Baked or grilled seasoned chicken breast with steamed vegetables and wild rice0 -
The only thing I'm really consistent on is my breakfast and morning snack. I always have an breakfast sandwich for both. I use a 1/4 c. egg beaters, one slice whole wheat bread toasted, .5oz ham (about 1 thin slice), and 1/2 a slice colby jack cheese . It has a good mix of carbs, protein and fat so it keeps me full for 3 to 4 hours and only has about 140 calories.0

I change it up alot!
Breakfest: I change every morning so I dont get bored other then my coffee

bagel with weight watchers cream cheese
protein shake
Grapfruite
Sometime smartone breakfest options
Lunch
Sometime smartone meals (if I didnt have leftovers from dinner)
ppj sandwich on wheat
shredded chicken on a wheat pita
salads (different everytime)
Dinners
Steak with salad and green beans
bbq chicken breast with corn on the cob
meat balls and whole wheat noodles
cherio cover chicken finger with sweet patato fries
taco salad
spagetti whole wheat noodles
southwestern crockpot chicken with brown rice
homemade mac and cheese with whole wheat noodles

There is so much more, I learned through all of the years of dieting that if I get bored that is the times I eat out of control. I love trying new things and often try new recipes!!0 -

Breakfast: Some sort of whole wheat waffle with peanut butter
Morning Snack: Banana
Lunch: Sandwich using 1 slice whole wheat bread and meat or PB&J OR a wrap with lots of fresh veggies and some chicken and cheese OR leftover dinner OR a pizza made on a whole wheat tortilla, usually made after I have spaghetti with leftover sauce
Afternoon Snack: cheese and crackers, raisins, fruit salad (I pre-make it every few days so it's handy and fresh and vary the fruits I put in it)
Dinner: Poultry, poultry, poultry. It's all I like, so I have about 10 different ways I cook chicken. When I'm not in the mood, I go for some whole wheat pasta or my personal favorite: Breakfast for dinner!
Other snacks: Carrot chips and cucumbers for when I just want something to crunch, fruit and cheese when I'm craving something sweet or really hungry. I've been crapping out on snacks lately so I'm kind of boring in this area. I think I'm going to make my own trail mix of nuts, raisins and such, though.
Dessert when I actually eat it: Special K Red Berries with 1% milk or an actual serving size of ice cream (not a gigantic SERVING BOWL size but an actual 1/2 cup!)0 -

It's a quicker way for me to get extra protein/calories. I need to take in a certain amount of calories and a) I don't want to lug around the extra food to work and b) I can't take in all of that whole food.
I learned it's a lot easier to take in 2000 calories eating 3 slices of pizza than it is to eat chicken, tuna, veggies, fruits, etc.
I'm in phase I of my 2nd round of P90X and the food ratios for this phase are 50/30/20 (protein/carbs/fat).0 -
Breakfast: 1/2 cup cottage cheese + banana
Snack: baby carrots
Lunch: salad w/2 tbsp light dressing, cheese and sunflower seeds + orange
Snack: 100 cal ice cream pack
Dinner: bean and cheese burrito w/ 2 tbsp sour cream + apple
Snack: some 100 cal pack, or a fruit0 -
Alright..so some of you have said you like those Skinny Cow treats and the WW treats as well. I was looking in a magazine today and saw a page with about 6 different kinds of yummy foods. The one that caught my eye is the ice cream candy bar looking thing. Question: do these things really taste as good as the pictures!? Sometimes you get these 'diet' foods, and they are crap tasting. But are these ones good? The Weight Watcher ones?
Loving all your foods!! This is giving me some awesome ideas!! Thanks!0
