Hey guys,

I was told I was Lactose Free just over a year ago and this is something I really struggle with.

I have had a funny feeling that I'm Gluten intolerant now and am trying to out a Gluten and Lactose Free diet to see if this makes me feel better.

Do you guys have any foods (in NZ pref) that would fall in these categories or do you have any recipes?

Katz Gluten Free baked goods are also all dairy free. You can order their products online, and here is a link to a great gluten free site that is currently offering a great deal on Katz products:

Check out paleo or the primal blue print, both are gluten free and dairy free "diets".
  • My ex partner is full out allergic to MSG, gluten, and dairy. We keep all the foods in the house free of these. It is quite easy actually when you get used to it. Here are some things that you can swap for non-allergy foods:

    Pasta:

Rice pasta (preferably brown)..can be found in the pasta aisle or in a gluten free aisle
Rice noodles usually found in the ethnic aisle
    Farmgold Spelt German egg noodles

    Breads:

To date we have only found one that tastes quite good Rudi's Organic Spelt bread
If you are just intolerant, you may be able to handle many types of breads made of spelt, buckwheat, and possibly rye

To bread things such as fish and squid, we use Chickpea flour
For gravies we use chickpea flour or all purpose gluten free flour, or cornstarch

    Cereals

    rolled oats
    rice krispies
    corn flakes
and any other ones found in the gluten free aisle.

    Non-dairy

anything made with Goat milk. You can get sheep parmesan cheese which is soooo fabulous.
Silk products is the best for soy milk
Toffuti is a really good fudgesicle
So Delicious has good ice cream
Look at the labels of margarines such as Becel and for others make sure they didn't add dairy into it (do not get Parkay)
    Aero Dark chocolate bar

    Other foods

And of course if you choose all fresh ingredients you can pretty much eat anything: all your potatoes, squash, meats and grains such as quinoa, rice

    Deli meat

    ziggy (read the label)
Grimms (100% gluten and dairy free)
Freybe (100% gluten and dairy free)

Soy sauce you have to get the gluten free as they are always made with wheat

Do not eat fast food...but if you do...McDonalds Fries are gluten and dairy free and they have their own fryer so they are not cross contaminated

    I hope this helps.
  • theres so many. All unprocessed fruit, veg, red meat, chicken, fish, legumes and gluten free grain and flour (rice, quinoa, etc). Theres also plenty of gluten/lactose free alternatives (such as pasta, biscuits, etc) in supermarkets or health food shops. Restaurants are now catching on to and many have special menus or can adapt meals to suit. Or if you like cooking, most recipes can be adapting using gluten free flour instead of wheat flour, soy/lactose free milk instead of dairy, etc.
