When it comes to buying your food. what would be the biggest reason for buying it
A: The price it is cheap
B: Nutritional values are good/ it is healthy that other product on the market of same item
C: Portion Control so you buy at places that gives you just what you need ie free flow butchers.
D: you stuck in old ways and buy same stuff you just eat less of it..
E any other things..

I am curious as i have started from this week is quality and where it comes from and portion control more important to me than just buying what is there in the supermarket.. ie would i put green petrol in a car that needs red petrol... so why am i putting any old stuff into my body.. So i am looking at where my food comes from am i better off with going to the butcher may be bit more expensive but will my shopping list be the same with me not buying as much cause of portion control..even fruit and veges and other items am i buying more than we actually need to survive.. is getting that product that maybe slightly dearer better for me am i going to see a difference in the way that i feel... Today i brought two 200grams lamb chops for $8.. they are nice sized they look good. have to wait to see what they taste like they are also organic.. would you pay $nz8 for two lamb chops? if you knew it would be better quality.????
Lately i have really started to diagnose my food....

I try to improve my diet over time.

I have successfully changed my macro balance to 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat (which is a lot more protein than I used to eat, and a lot less grain based carbohydrate).

I try hard to incorporate unfamiliar ingredients, especially vegetables and fruits, into my diet and cooking as eating a wide variety of foods is best for nutrition.

I work hard to keep my vegetable consumption high, but I limit my fruit to 1 piece a day, and limit my added sugar consumption so as to minimise fructose consumption. I don't worry too much about limiting dairy as it is a great sourced of protein and calcium, and the disaccharide lactose does not contain the monosaccharide fructose (just glucose and galactose).

I spend too much on groceries though, cause I kinda go nuts buying all the expensive cool trendy stuff in the health food aisle like new and different grains and porridges, protein bars, interesting vegetarian protein stuff....

And as for portion control - that's why I have a food scale and measuring cups aplenty at home. I am happy to measure my own portions. If I overbuy a bit I just use the leftovers up as much as I can, because I hate to throw food out.

I go with nutrition, then price. I buy in bulk or when things are on sale and freeze and plan around what I have.

My decisions are based on a mix of nutrition and ease of preparation. Some days I don't mind cooking, but other days I prefer not to.
