Is Frank's Red Hot good or bad?

I have an obsession with hot sauce lately and I was wondering if this is a good thing or bad thing?! It has 190mg of Sodium per tsp but, I drink anywhere from 16 - 24 glasses of water a day so my thoughts are the little extra sodium is probably not a bad thing...

GOOD!!!! As long as you don't consume too much other sodium!

It is good and flavorful and spicy, without killing your taste buds. My favorite hot sauce I put it on anything and everything. Once I put it on a cream cheese bagel it's sad. That being said just monitor your sodium to make sure you are not going over in other other respect. I basically ditched salt and used a little franks even though I would love to drown my food in it lol

Unless you have issues with high blood pressure don't worry that much about sodium. As for hot sauces Frank's is not bad for sodium, Tobasco has much less at 35 a tsp. Some have much more.

Personally I don't believe in good and bad food. It is a matter of not overdoing anything.

To every meal, its own hot sauce. I really like Frank's Xtra RedHot on pizza, soo good (not that I'm ever naughty and eat pizza...)
Love some Sriracha on most everything else, from eggs to pasta.
Did you know that eating spicy food actually causes an endorphin release? Just like...yep. Orgasms. Can't get much better.

    I have this. It's nuts!

On topic: drink lots of water, get adequate potassium & exercise hard & sodium should not be an issue unless you have high blood pressure.

Depends on how your sodium intake is. If you're not going over your sodium I guess it's fine! For me though, I can't just use a teaspoon of franks. If I'm going to use it, I'm going to pour it on, and wind up using at least one tablespoon. At least! So that's a lot of sodium. But if you find you're not going over your daily intake it's fine!

I'd be wary of the sodium content. Have you tried Sriracha? It's spicier so you have been warned. I use it on all of my food. I also use salsa from time time time.

    Um. a lot! Probably 10+...
  • I love Sriracha, I have been putting it on my vegetables lately. It makes them so, so tasty.

That Oatmeal cartoon was funny, loved it.

Also, you drink 24 glasses of water a day? 192 oz of water? That's like a gallon and a half.

That's actually an underestimate... I drink water like it's my job!! I can drink anywhere from a gallon to almost 3, sometimes 4 gallons in a day! I love the taste of it and when I started drinking copious amounts weight started melting off my body... I lost 50 lbs in 5 weeks and another 50 over the next 4 months. It's pretty much become my OCD... I'm sure my electrolytes are all out of whack and of course i fear water intox all the time! Friends make fun of me constantly but, I'm obsessed and not diabetic!! Of course addictive personality is the reason I have a weight issue to begin with...

The first 50 lbs I lost I didn't exercise at all and I wasn't keeping track of my calories but, my appetite was pretty much non-existent because I was consuming so much water. On a regular day I would have 5L in by 9 am and never ever skipped breakfast. After I realized that I was 50 lbs down in 5 weeks I was shocked and I started exercising cause I felt amazing! That's when I started keeping track of my calories, no more than 1400/day, and working out no less than 3 times a week and not consuming my exercise calories. I still couldn't run to the stop sign without getting winded so my best tool was to do buckeyes (walk from one telephone pole to the next then jog/run from one telephone pole to the next then walk, then jog/run etc.). That's when my body started to tone up and I also started adding protein supplements to my diet. I started over 300 lbs and I really credit water as being my best tool. The only downside is that I am always in the bathroom so it definitely gets discouraging quickly.
