I hope noone thinks that I am some kind of moron, but I have a question:ohwell: ...
You know that 'stuff' on the top of the yogurt when you open it up? The watery-milky stuff? WHAT IS IT? Is it important for your health? I dump it down the sink and eat the yogurt. Looking at it kind of grosses me out, but if I am missing out on something that I NEED then I will swallow it down with a smile! Thank you for your help! :blushing:

I think its just separation of the yogurt...I stir it in, but agree that its gross.....
  • It's separation and I think a little condensation as well. I dump it off as well...

I don't think there's anything important in it. Mostly just the water in the yogurt separating. Sour cream does the same thing.
  • if it is real yogurt (less sugar, more live cultures) then it should be whey liquid. It separates from the rest of the yogurt solids. I stir it in. :)

I just mix it in, I think it may be liquid whey, as that is what drains off when you put yogurt on a cheese cloth to make yogurt cheese.
