Cantonese Chow Meain - help me!

I got takeout Cantonese chow mein the other night - the place that makes it doesn't use much for a sauce, it's pretty light as far as that goes...but I have no idea if I'm calculating the noodles right.

I tried to break it down into individual portions, I measured the broccoli, how many shrimp etc..but I measured out a cup of noodles and it's like 1000 calories for that?! Is that real or am I inputing it totally wrong????

I looked online for some help and it seems like regular portions of chowmein are around 250 calories. I know I ate more noodles than I probably should have (and again today for leftovers) but seriously, it's that many calories?!

  • I'm afraid that those chow mein noodles are chock full of calories. Many of them are deep fried before they're cooked at the actual restaurant.

Guaranteed it's at least that many calories. Talk about cooking with lots of oil...

    I'm so disappointed now.

But how would they be deep fried first and then cooked? Wouldn't that make them crispy?
