Hi everyone,
Yeah... yeah.. yeah... I have been on this thing before up and down... up and down... However, I am getting married so I am going to use this to my advantage of setting a goal for myself and then using this website to help me beyond that. I want to lead a health and long life and we all have to start somewhere. So I am going to get it done this time around and keep the weight off.

For me it is probably the lack of exercise, the pizza, wings and other foods that I love and dark rich and flavorful beer. So here is to turning over a new leaf and get this body back to where it should be... about 60 Ibs less. Although for the wedding I am setting a 40 Ib goal.

I am always interested in being friends that will help or that I can help. I am doing this website as a way to support my weight loss and keep me positive throughout the process.

Cheers, Kirk

I was watching Dr. Oz, and he said drinking dark beer is better than regular beer because it has more anti-oxidants and less calories! Look at you go already! ;)

This is not necessarily true. The alcohol content and residual sweetness of a beer have a lot to do with the calorie count. Yes, Guinness and similar dry stouts are both lower alcohol and lower in calories than a lot of lighter-colored beers, but I've brewed imperial stouts that were in excess of 400 calories a pint. (!)
  • How often do you still allow yourself to indulge in having a beer?

Every now and then, probably a few times a week. I do try to contain beer to days when I have extra calories available due to working out or MTB'ing. Bourbon is also a lower-calorie option for when I just want to unwind after a long work day.
