Question about MFP tracking...

I couldn't find the answer to this, hoping you all can help.

If I set my goal at losing 1 lb a week, but change in a week or two to, say 2 lbs a week does it re-set my progress/weigh ins, etc? I wouldn't think so, but I just wanted to be sure.

No, everything will stay the same.
  • Nope! Just did this yesterday for myself, and it kept my progress. I didn't even think about that before changing, but thankfully it kept the same number of pounds lost, same number of days logged in.

only thing that changes is your daily calorie goal.

you will see, however, your goal a little skewed and odd if you look back at old food diary entries.

if your goal is 2000 now, and you eat 1900 and are happy that is awesome.
say you change your goal, and it is 1800 instead. now looking back at that day, it will show you as 100 in the red. not as awesome to see.

just remember that is the one change, and try not to let the random red numbers of past diaries upset you :)

PS. it is great to change your goal as you change weight! as you continue to lose and get closer to goal weight, you will want to lose less each week to maintain a healthy amount of food in each day.
  • Thanks everyone! I appreciate the insight!
