Hi everyone....Ok.. I feel- fat, frumpy and the wrong side of 40! need to kick myself up the rear and get on with it insead of just flapping my lips talking about it...sigh... SO If there is anyone who can give me the occasionally virtual truth slap and pep talk, please I challenge you! I have this stupid block when it comes to motivating myself, but full of great advise for others! why ios that? I need to dissolve a long time affair with chocolate, ie stop sneaking it to the back of the fridge or eating it quickly so no one sees me! AND have just been told by doc, lose weight it will help your knees! !!! ok its official if a doc says it ... time to act! HELP! now all that said - let breath out!

Been there with the wrong side of 40/50 plus and the frumpy look, wearing a size 14 now and down 33/35 pounds depending on the week :). Not great at motivating myself, but had a friend trying to lose 200 pound and she is amazing at motivation so strapped myself onto her challenges and succeeded.

Getting into a habit takes about 21 days so you really have to work at that and start with baby steps as in goals, one pound a week, eat the same stuff but half of it, don't cut yourself off cold turkey on the chocolate, just put it out in plain sight and allow yourself that SMALLER size treat :). The next week up the exercise, down the portions, change up the quality and count calories. Follow Canada's food guide for good nutritional value, some of the portions I find really high so I just eat what is comforable to me. Drink lots of water to flush out your system. Good luck and consider this a butt kicking to get going and save your heart and lungs from destruction, they will love you for it. Most likely you are in the US so just google Canada's food guide it has some great suggestions.
  • HI... thanks Rodenizer for the tips.Wherever in the world there is advise to be heeded, all welcome . I am currently a UK ExPat, living in Dubai, the land of Friday Brunch.... ooooh its just there saying "eat me ....goo on, just a little" then PFFFF, its know as the "Dubai stone", its just there on the tables on mass - 4 hours of solid eating and drinking and of course there are masses of healthy options, but oh no... this - lacking in self discipline lump - heads straight for the naughty stuff... well NO MORE... I will be good, I will make the right choices .. I will track and monitor, and I will .. try.

well done on your weight loss too...

I knew a franchisee who owns a Candy Bouquet in Dubai. Often wonder how chocolate survives in the heat over there. Anyway a little off track. That food table sounds delightful. Enjoy the food but do it on a smaller scale. Small plate and be selective about what you go for. You still need those treats. My problem this month is Christmas treats. shortbread cookies and egg nog oh my just love the stuff. I have jumped up in weight and I so want to go under my goal weight. Winter is depressing because you have to pile on the extra clothes and you feel heavy anyways. I need some inspiration too because I know how good I feel when I eat right and exercise. I have been busy training the new puppy to walk on the treadmill, guess I better retrain myself.

Ok here's the challenge 3 pounds by Christmas are you with me?
