Timing and frequency of meals is largely irrelevant. Get the facts! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/390149-should-i-eat-at-night

Using small bowls and cups is a good idea. You won't put as much on the plate, and it will give the illusion that you have more.

Drinking water regularly is good. Sometimes perceived hunger is really thirst.

Having a snack of celery or carrots or any raw vegetables can help if you are hungry between meals.

Other than that.....the rest of your tips are more just a matter of opinion.

It doesn't matter what time you eat food, it's processed the same way regardless of the time of day.

These read like things you'd find on a pro-ana blog. I'm surprised I didn't see "brush your teeth if you're hungry. you won't want to eat after that".

hey, let's all gang up on the OP.

I find that keeping those little boxes of raisins in my desk was helpful for midday hunger. Also tea is naturally sweet and good for you; it can taste like a treat even if you don't put in water (I have African Autumn and Chamomile Lemon, soo yummy). Also, gum helps; I tend to want to chew on things (you should see my pens) and gum is better than M&Ms.

I don't know what a "pro-ana blog" is, but brushing teeth often works for me when I want a sweet after a meal, but not when I am truly hungry.

If you really do want to know, it's a type of blog that provides "tips" for anorexics. Some of these are similar to the "advice" found on those blogs which can get really scary.

It's all about tone, dude. Besides, I doubt her tips to eat smaller portions and snack on veggies are about to send anyone down the dark path of anorexia. It's kind of sad and misguided to restrict fruit (nature's gift to mankind), although I personally never eat diaries.

And regarding the tooth brushing tip, anything that promotes proper dental hygiene is good in my book.

Yeah, I just got that. I saw some TV show on it once. Pro-disease web sites. Awesome.

I corrected her on the idea around timing and frequency of meals. It's a long-held myth, and I would think that folks would appreciate knowing the truth.
