"Ripped" and "Shredded."

What the heck do they mean, exactly? Back in my day, we called muscular "buff"...is this the same thing?

I'm a girl...do I want to be ripped? Or shredded? Or neither?

    I'm pretty sure I don't want to be ripped ... I get a picture in my head of a girl standing there and you can see several muscle lumps pudging in her arms and legs (maybe even stomache).

    What's shredded?

    I went drinking last night and got "ripped".
    My boss didn't like my work and he "shredded" me.
    A piano landed on my head and now I'm "toned."

    It's pretty much all the same thing, showing muscle tone.

    Definitely neither for me then. I mean, I want to be toned but if I start seeing deep creases I'm going back to yoga.

    ripped=shredded=very low body fat

    it is HARD for girls to get this way.
