I'm Jaxx and have been dieting on and off my whole life. I've never really done online communities so here goes nothing ( well hopefully about 50 pounds).
I'm 42, have 2 kids, fatter now than at the height of my pregnancies. I never lost the baby weight and the rest has crept on. Right now all I want is a bar of chocolate but I thought I would introduce myself instead. It appears to be working as my desire is diminishing. Evenings are so hard!

Hi, and welcome to THE best site on the web!
Believe me, I've ALSO tried just about every "diet" out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing worked until I came to MFP! I can't say enough good about it!
MFP is NOT a "diet", it's a "lifestyle change". You DO get to eat pretty much whatever you want, just in moderation and along with exercise.
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:

Hello and welcome to MFP. This is the best website ever. I love it here and I think you will too. This website is so helpful, supportive, motivational, and everyone here is so nice and friendly. I just wanted to tell you good luck on your weight loss journey. You can do this. :flowerforyou:

Hi Jaxx. I'm in a similar postion but with twice as much to lose. 43, 2 kids new here. The calorie counting really helps, as does the target that is set.

In retrospect, I was eating far too little on previous diets and that's why they failed. I found evenings hardest too, but that was because I wasn't eating enough in the day.

Whatever the diet pitfalls you encounter, I suspect that keeping a journal and getting support and ideas from others wil help. Hope so! Good luck!

Wow, I had to hit the hay and went to sleep without seeing how many people would respond to a newbie in such a kind and supportive way. Thank you!
