Well here I am starting out this journey. I am also on the Atkins diet and have lost 9 lbs to date. I have 100 lbs to lose to get healthy and fit. I have been doing deep water work outs (easy on the joints to start) I am told that journaling my food consumption will help monitor my intake. My biggest issue is evening eating....Any suggestions?
Cheers to all and to all lose weight!

Good luck to you...it's easier than you might think, especially after the first 50. I say this because I am an awful dieter...I LOVE FOOD!! ...And like you, enjoy eating at night. Soooo...I hardly eat during the day, if at all. I'm not saying this is the right thing to do! I'm just saying what has worked for me. It certainly hasn't seemed to hurt my health...I now have normal blood values, and I hike and backpack...I haven't felt this great for at least 25 years! You can do this, and you owe it to yourself in that you will find SO much more enjoymeny in life! E-me anytime! Robin:drinker:

Oh...and YES, log EVERYTHING you put into your mouth! Even if you go over your daily intake, be accountable. and cop up to it in your MFP journal! This works...it's made ALL the difference for me and you learn a LOT about the calorie content of things!
  • Welcome and Good Luck:flowerforyou: I was a night eater until I found out WHY I ate at night! My doctor says that it is your body craving water. Our bodies trick us into thinking we're hungry when we're only needing more water. I thought NO WAY! I gave it a try and my doctor was right. I keep a bottle of water with me on the couch and I take it to bed. I would even wake up in the middle of the night feeling hungry! It would only take a couple of sips to get rid of the craving!:drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

    Welcome!! :flowerforyou:

I can tell you from personal experience that not only is it very possible to lose 100+ lbs but you don't have to suffer or feel deprived along the way. Just find that balance cutting enough calories to lose and making sure to eat enough to fuel! Counting the calories is definitely helpful with that!

And try to plan your day around when you know you will want to eat, which is later. But, if you start to view food as fuel for your body and eat to do that during the day, you might find yourself wanting less in the evenings because you are satisfied.

    Best of luck!!
