hey all ive totaly lost my motivation to eat healthy and logg appropriatly. i just cant seem to get back into the swing of things.
since june ive lost 15lbs its been slow but steady.
im doing the 30ds and enjoying it but the food side of things i just cant get back into it.
please dont tell me that this is a lifestyle not a diet as i know this, i just need the encouragment to get back into it first thing in the morning. (to late today):frown:
PLEASE HELP this 23 year old shed her last 5lbs before xmas :happy:

ive been feeling a bit like that lately....untill this morning. i went for breakfast with my friend and thought sod it, ill have full english!!! (ashamed:sad: ), came home and logged it all and then realished what id done so ive been excersicing since to try and cancel it out. made me realize that ive worked too hard to let it slip now.... so tomoz will be a new start for me again. good luck xx:flowerforyou:0

Here's a reality check that pisses me off, only I can lose MY weight. I have to own this thing. I want other people to do this for me, I want other people to say the right words, or give me the right motivation or inspiration to get my butt in gear, but guess what, other's don't own this, I do. I'm the only one who can change myself. Sometimes I feel like nothing is happening or I'm sabotaging myself, I like to call it self adultry. I commit adultry with cookies, cakes, etc., bu tI digress, when I feel like nothing is happening or that I'm failing, I tend to reach out to others to ask for their encouragement hoping someone else will have that magic cure for me. At the end of the day, I'm the only one that has that magic cure. When I'm really upside down,I reach out to God and ask God to give me the empowerment, and God always does. Does this rant make any sense? I hope this is helpful to you. I've been where you are, I really have ,we all have. Own it, do something about it, and share. Chin up, remember Jackie Chan's words, Fight with honor, you will win.0

You can do it ! Start off slow and do 15 or 20 mins. each morning if you don't have time for 30 mins or more..Just small steps can bring big results.As time goes on you will see how good it feels and add more time to your workouts and be right back on track ..I wish you the best with your weight

Here's exactly where you're going wrong... Why wait til tomorrow morning? Why not RIGHT NOW??!?!?!?! So you effed up this morning maybe even at lunch... own up to it. You're on the site log the damn food. Then let the guilt sink in and instead of going ape**** and eating whatever you want for dinner make good choices.
Stop putting it off. If you want to lose 5 pounds this month you need to put your head down and go to work NOW. Not tomorrow.0 -
Tonilizzy, motivation is something that comes and goes whenever it feels like it. It's not motivation that should keep you going, but a steady drive to do what you know has to get done. It's not easy, it's never going to be easy. It's hard and a lot of the time it flat out sucks but if you WANT it, if you REALLY WANT IT, it will happen simply because of that. So when you get offered a piece of cake or when you go by the chips in the grocery store you have to make it a point to tell yourself that YES, you want it, but you're not going to have it because it's NOT the right thing to do to get what you want. Motivation is nice and it makes things seem like they're pretty great but you can't rely on only that or you'll yo-yo for the rest of your life. You want to rely on drive and willpower. You CAN do it, you WILL do it.0

On last thing - stop saying "can't". That creates a negative image that you don't have control over what you do. "I can't eat right" "I can't get back into the swing of things". You absolutely CAN. Switch it to words that show responsibility and show that you are the one making the decision. EMPOWER yourself to make the changes that you want.
"I HAVEN'T been eating right." "I am struggling to get back into the swing of things."
Think of yourself as a fighter, not a defeatist. You have ultimate control over everything you do. Life is choices, make the right ones.0 -
Oh and here's something that has continued to help me... It's a quote from Hank Aaron.
"My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging."
Whether you lack motivation or not keep eating right- don't use the "lack of motivation" as an excuse to stop swinging.0 -
thanks all. im going to go home after work (i got an hour to go) and make myself a quorn stirfry with chilli.
but before that im going to do the 30day shread. then im going to make myself some homemade carrott soup ready for work tommorow. ive got a christmas dinner out with work in the evening ill just have to lay off the roasties and fill up on the steamed veg.

Unfortunately you do need to think of it as a lifestyle change, it's the only way you will really succeed. but change it right now, yes it's hard but just cuz one egg falls on the floor and breaks do you throw the other 11 on the floor? So if you've had a bad day now, get up, put a smile on that face even if it's a fake one and pretend that you feel like working out and do a light workout.. it might be horrible feeling today but a couple more days of that and you'll be right back on track. So what if you ate bad so far today, think of something healthy you enjoy... for me it's chinese food, plain boiled chicken, white rice, broccoli, no sauce but delicious and about 330 calories... it feels like i'm misbehaving but it's actually a healthy meal.. i'm sure you have a meal or two like that :-) You can do it, trust me, it's hard!! It's also totally worth it and you are so close!

It's so much simpler than a "lifestyle change"... it's changing your habits! Us as human beings like being comfortable, sticking to what we "know". We don't like change and resist feeling uncomfortable. Welp, it's gonna be a little uncomfortable changing something that you have probably engrained in your brain so often over the years. Realize it's gonna suck a little bit and just do it. It takes a good month to really get comfortable with a new habit! You just have to reinforce, reinforce, reinforce!! I mess up ALL the time... when I do, I say "welp! that sucked, but I'm going to do something about it RIGHT. NOW." Everything you do is driven by choice, NOT motivation. I wanted to call in sick to work SO BAD today just because I didn't want to get out of bed... it was not motivation that got me to work, but by a choice. We have to drive ourself, no other person can do it for us. It's a hard fact to learn, but I think I'm starting to learn it. My boyfriend eats nothing but crap, and I allowed MYSELF to start eating crap (I'd love to blame him, but let's be honest... I didn't HAVE to eat that Big Mac at McDonalds... he didn't FORCE me =\). You'll get there... you just have to push and push yourself!0

You can so do this. It is hard for all of us and we all lose motivation at points. Just get over the feeling guilty part and hop on that horse and start again. Sometimes you need to do something little to make you motivated. Like a little workout and a good meal.0

You can definitely do it!
You have a commitment to yourself and to your life beyond the thoughts of "I can't" or "I just don't feel like it" or "I lost my motivation."
Get in touch with that commitment (maybe it's something like "I want to healthy and happy." or "I am energetic and enthusiastic and I can make a huge difference in the world"... whatever that is for you)...
One more thing: Don't resist the mind's thoughts and moods. Just notice them, compassionately... Have compassion for yourself... and then do what you were going to do anyway. Sometimes my best days have been when I kept my word to myself and did what I said I was going to do even though "I didn't feel it."

I love this... I try doing this with everything. A headache, fear, anger, etc. Taking a few minutes out a day to do this can really improve your outlook on life and yourself in mere weeks. Meditation is crucial in my everyday. Just like working out your body, you have to work out your mind as well.0 -

^^^^ THIS, you took the words right out of my mouth. Your next bite does count. Doing a smaller amount of exercise does count. It's not just about a numbers victory, but also willpower! You had your "treat" more isn't going to taste any different or any better, and the guilt is going to make your stomach sour.0 -
Look back at what you have accomplished and ask yourself, "Do I want to be there again" and the second trip down the road is not alway easier.0
