strep throat has hit my kids first last week my 13 year old was off now my 4 year olds got it.
I haven't been out of my house in a week and a half even to get to the gym.
I'm out of calories to eat today and my mommy maid duties do not (apparently) include time for a wii workout.
I'm just so frustrated I want to cry
I love my boys their my world but this is one of thoes days I wish I wasn't alone in raising them

lay on the floor and do sit ups!!! You could do that while having your kids watch tv... my boys are sick also and it's tough being mom but still needing your time also! I always have them pick out a movie and then i do my floor workouts!!! it's at least something!!!0 -
thanks everyone I'm sorry I didn't want come out looking like a whiner.
I think the stress is getting too me and don't worry I'll eat I'm not that decicated.
On the subject of eating anyone have any ideas for a 4 year old with strep throat?
I can't even get him to eat soup or jello and it's worring me he's drinking water but that's about it0 -
Hang in there being a mommy is one of the toughest yet most rewarding jobs in the world. I remember a few years ago when my kids got the flu (the year or the vaccine shortages so are healthy and opted not to get the shot anyway) the kids all go the flu yes all three of them but not at the same time they did it in succession so we had sick kids in the house four about a month. I was so fried, but when they were sick the only thing they would eat weresmoothies. I would mix yogurt, appple juic and frozen fruit in the blender until the consistancy of a malt. It wasn't much but it was some nourishment for their bodies.
Strep throat hurts really bad to swallow so anything that is cool and soothing ...icecream, pudding popsicles cold applesauce
Anyway hope they are better soon.0 -
Heather 125,
Hang in there ............ the strep can't last forever; it'll eventually make it thru everyone in the house and then it'll just fade away.
Try yogurt, popsicles or even ice cream. If he's not eating, ANY calories you get into him will help; he's not old enough to realize that food=fuel for your body and he needs to eat even if his throat hurts. They make yogurt in a tube that you squeeze into your mouth - he might find that fun.
Good luck, and don't forget to do something nice for yourself too!!:flowerforyou:0 -

I don't know how much this will help, but when I (or the hubby) have a sore throat, I mix a little bit of honey and lemon with boiling water, let it cool a bit, and then drink it. I find it soothes the throat a bit. I'm not sure if honey is good for a 4-year old (don't have kids), but it'll have calories and may make his throat feel a little bit better so that he can swallow something.
...how 'bout mashed potatoes?0 -

Poor lil thing ! As long as he can get some sprite/7up in him...he'll be ok. I take out the carbonation when giving it to my kiddos...cuz the fizzes can irritate their throat. Just stir it or shake the bottle(let it rest before opening it,LOL). Hope he gets better soon! Just tell him he needs to drink something....so he doens't have to get an IV! That ALWAYS works for mine...they've had them before!0 -
Gatorade diluted by half with water, to keep hydrated. Strep can also cause upset stomach, so it makes sense he doesn't want to eat. Poor baby.0
