Hi all! I was wondering if there were any alopecians out there. My daughter has alopecia and I have met a number of people with alopecia through a non profit organization I have created. I love supporting and meeting alopecians, so give me a shout out. -Lori:heart:

May, did you shave your head for your baby?

 That is the sweetest, kindest thing I have seen in a long while.

What a great mommy you are!!

I have a friend with the disease. She has had it all her life, and she wears these great wigs.

Your daughter is just beautiful!!:smooched: :smooched:

I had "alopeica areata" briefly...dr. blamed it on stress, nutrition, etc... but this was about 8 years ago & hasn't happened in the last 6 years.

Just wanted to say hi & welcome to the boards! Your daughter is beautiful! :smooched:

Hi- thanks for posting. I did shave my head for my daughter originally last summer.... now I just like having it shaved so I continue to do it. I think it helps her, it starts a conversation with curious people, and kids often ask me about it so I get to educate them. My whole goal is to educate kids and adults.... I am hoping to make life a bit easier for alopecians in the future. My daughter is a strong advocate :) Have your friend email me.... I have started my own nonprofit and the more beautifully bald the better :) www.neauinc.org.

Hi, I am glad that you have not had another spell of AA in so many years. Well I may agree with stress being a trigger but I disagree with nutrition. AA is genetic and it has been shown that stress may trigger it as it is dormant- but nothing has really been proven. I bet you have a fabulous immune system :) Thanks for the post.
