Tracking progress (lifters)

Hey all, I'm just wondering what people are using to track their weights and progress with their strength training.

At the moment I'm just working ol' school with a piece of paper and pencil, and am wondering if people have recommendations for a program (web based or excel etc), or if there is a good iPhone app floating around that might even suit my purpose.

I think being able to visualise progress (ie in a graph/chart) might ultimately be more motivating and useful than having to look back through my paper charts.

Any suggestions welcome. Thanks!

I use jefit. it works great. It is an Iphone/android ap that syncs with a website so you can access it either way.

I used to enter mine on bb.com, but when I started doing like 20 exercises a session I quit because it became so tedious.

So what do you use if anything to track and remember weight and # reps etc?? Thanks

I use bodybuilding.com to track my progress. They have charts/graphs - which I love.

quick question re jefit, does it record in kilograms, cos Ive tried a couple that only use pounds and converting is a bit of a painful task.

sounds like bb might be a good option, I don't do any where near 20 different exercises in a weights session so I should be ok :)

On the ap, you can select the units. kg or lb.

For the record, I used to use bb.com as well and as was stated above, it became quite a chore to log everything in when I got home. You still have to write everything down while at the gym and then transfer it later. Using the jefit ap, I set up a routine and follow it, you can even program in rest periods. Once you have moved thru your routine it asks if you want to sync with the website. It uses a calculated 1RM to track progress.

I am not sure about the IPhone ap but the android has a free version as well as a pro version. Free is fully functional but has ads. Since I am only looking at it while I am entering weight/reps, the ads don't bother me.

It must just be me, but I know exactly what I did last workout everytime I lift.

Though I used to write it down.

Maybe I should start again just so I have a record to look back on next year.

i found pen and paper(small spiral notebook) to be the best for me. dont want to bring my phone into the gym because i know ill destroy it. i'm lucky my Ipod shuffle has made it this long.

i write everything out in advance...what i'm doing that day and what i did the last time and then makes notes after each exercise about what ill do the next time.
