Do you catch colds easy?

I have gotten this question a lot in the past two weeks! I have a home daycare of 12 kids (yes I licensed for that size of kids I case you think I'm crazy). In the past month a lot of the kids, friends, and family have gotten sick or the flu. I noticed when I eat right and workout I don't get sick as often. Anyone else notice they don't get sick as often when they workout and eat right? Stupid question but I didn't think about it much till people have been nagging me lately. It's almost like they thinking take magic pills or something. It's the same way when I tell them I'm not as tired when I workout and eat right. Happy Friday all have a great weekend!

I used to have a cold, flu, sinus infection every couple of months - now I've been eating right, taking vits and exercising more I haven't been sick in almost a year. The last time was a sinus infection (I'm usually quite prone to those) last Christmas...fingers crossed I don't pick it up this year

Hope you have a great weekend too!!

Usually when I eat right and workout I don't, but for some reason this year has been horrible. I've been fighting a cold for a month off and on. I think it must be the new baby bringing all the lovely germs home from daycare. I'm a teacher so I usually am immune to all the kid germs, but not when they are in my house I guess.

    Congrats on the new baby!
I suppose maybe being a teacher you do build up against them. Perhaps that's why I do against the daycare kids. Hope I don't catch this flu crap that's going around its been terrible in the schools and daycares. (knock on wood!)

I've noticed it too. Just one more awesome benefit that comes with eating healthy and exercising! :)

My understanding is that there are only about 200 different cold virus strains. Once you get one of them, you don't get it again, if it comes back around. It's why a cold will run through a house but the first person doesn't get reinfected with it. If you work a lot with kids, who unarguably get the most colds, you're bound to get a lot of colds at first and then less and less as time goes on. That said, when you're taking care of yourself, your body is definitely stronger and more easily able to fight off any kind of illness. I don't know that it would prevent you from getting a cold at all, but it should make the symptoms more bearable.

I personally manage to get about one cold per year. Since cold medicines do not work for me, they are miserable when I do get them but I've found that when I'm taking good care of myself they are definitely not as horrible as when I've been slacking.
