Fast Food Reality Slap!

So yesterday I didn't eat that much because I was super busy, and when I did I made sure to be healthy. So when my friends suggested Burger King, I decided, why the heck not? I've been really good for a long time!
Well in forcing myself to be honest with my food diary I found that it took me about 1000 cals. over! I had the original chicken sandwich and a medium french fries. Now, I realize fast food is a no brainer and if I want to lose weight I should avoid it at all costs, but seeing the numbers on the screen was insane! I've never been in the negative calories before, and the food was not worth it!
I just wanted to spare you all the possible shame. I guess I'll work out extra hard today!

Scary! No wonder this country is so fat! It's a crime and sad. So many people just don't realize what our food manufacturers have done. Kids don't have much of a chance to be healthy with this stuff all around them all the time. When I travel I am always amazed how difficult it is to find anything healthy....it shouldn't be like that! Thanks for your post and honesty! A good reality check!0

I know! I went to Arby's the other day and grabbed a nutrition menu before I ordered. I planned on getting a Market Fresh Sandwich. But then I found out the all the market sandwiches average 30-40 fat grams!!! It's insane!:noway:0

Go for the chicken salad next time and bring your own dressing. I did that once and ended up under than I thought I would ... So I ended up grabbing one of my son's leftover BK burger shots.
The veggie burger isn't too bad if you hold the cheese.0 -
I used to work @ BK when I was a teenager, and it is one of the reasons I am overweight. I have cut out all Fast food, with the exception of Subway.
BK has the worst ranked kids meal also, what a shame =(0 -

Arby's is terrible...... you think you're doing well by getting a sandwich and then you realize how much fat and calories are packed into the thing..... yikes!!! If I'm going over on my calories, I at least want it to be yummy.0 -
Wow, great reminder! I truly can't remember the last time i had fast food, though I love it. But man, to think of all those empty, unhealthy calories! It's so unfair that something can be so yummy and so bad for you. I love Arby's, and I have to admit when I'm out dancing and have a few drinks...there's nothing like McDonald's cheeseburgers. But MAN - great reminder how horrible that stuff is!0

when I go to BK I get the Wopper Jr w/o cheese or Mayo. if you're going to eat fastfood, it's not THAT bad.
But that chicken sandwich....I'd have to say that is my FAVORITE fastfood ever0 -
My weakness has always been KFC...... I can eat that stuff forever. I used to get fast food every Saturday, I worked close to a strip mall filled with unhealthy stuff, and that was my 'treat'. No wonder I got to be 50 pounds overweight!!!:noway:0

My only fast food lately is a Wendy's large chili, 280 calories. Love it, when anyone asks to go fast food for lunch i always suggest wendy's.0

I have a pretty bad weakness for fast food in general. Haha. I actually cheated yesterday and had double quarter pounder with cheese and a medium fries... I was treating my sister to food because she hadn't eaten all day. But man, it took me like 80 grams of fat over, like 800 calories over, and it was SO not worth it.
Of course I know I'll likely never give up fast food completely. :-) But I definitely know that it's not going to be apart of my daily routine. Haha. Something I could enjoy once a week - nay, once a MONTH - I'd say. It doesn't hurt to treat yourself every once in a while.0 -
I love fast food and I probably eat it too much but I've found that you can have a meal at most fast food resaurants for less than 500 calories, you just have to know what items to choose. My favorites are Taco Bell or In n Out. A crunchy taco without cheese at Taco Bell in only 150 calories and a Hamburger protein style at In n Out is only 240.0

isn't it?! i am literally obsessed with that sandwich. when i was eating fast food more consistently (cough cough... ALL THE TIME- haha) all i'd have to say to my friends is 'number nine! number nine!'. and off to bk we would be! lol.0 -

Calories in fast food are bad enough, but what blows me away is the sodium!!! Most of the numbers are crazy high. :noway:
As for Taco Bell, I really like the Fresco Menu items.0 -
Yeah its a real eye opener to see the numbers on the screen. I went to five guys and after seeing the numbers never want to go back there. I try to go to subway if in a rush just to be safe but if not there is always grilled chicken something on the menu get that w/o mayo and take half the bun off that what I would do especially if they don't have a wheat bun substitute.0

that's good to know! i love fast food tacos too. and in-n-out is the best everrrrr. i actually prefer it protein style. i'm a big lettuce fan.

Pita Pit is my alternative if I'm in a hurry.... it's somewhat expensive, but it's close to my university, and in comparison to the other crap down there it's pretty darned good.0
