Dont you just hate it when someone asks you how you are doing on your diet and you tell them and they look at you all surprised and say "really?!" :noway:

I hate this!!!! I feel like they are actually saying there is no way you have lost that much weight or that many inches!

I know that I need to wait and people will start to notice on their own, but I am proud of myself and I hate feeling like no one believes what I have accomplished so far!

So far I have lost 14lbs and 7 inches off my tummy and 2 inches off my arms. (these are the two spots I carry the most weight) I feel like it is something worth telling !

Are you sure they're not saying "really???" As in "Wow...that's amazing!"?? Just curious. Sometimes what we perceive as disbelief is actually amazement.

BUT, if you're sure they are saying it in doubt....just keep doing what you're doing. It will all add up eventually and they will see this incredibly shrinking woman and keep their mouths shut...except when asking for your number!

Yes! I DO hate it! That's why I refuse to focus on the weight lost to some people... instead, the conversation goes like this:

"Hey Sonja, how's your diet going?"

"Hey! It's not really a diet - it's just a decision to eat healthier and move more. It's going great! I feel better than I have in years! I notice that my clothes fit differently, I have more energy and I just feel much more positive all around."

"Wow, that's great! How much have you lost?"

"I've lost 19 pounds and gone down 3 pant sizes".

"REALLY? I wouldn't have guessed that much..." (Yes, I've had family members actually SAY it...)

"Yes, really. And see, that's what I mean - a few months ago, you being shocked and having the audacity to actually question my weight loss would have hurt my feelings and made me want to drown my sorrows in a milkshake. Instead I'm going to go home and put in my kickboxing DVD and work out my aggressions there. Thanks for the motivation!"

Yes, yes - in case you can't tell... I am a biotch!!!!

I understand how you feel. Keep your head up and keep doing what your doing and you will be fine. Remember-You are doing this for you and knowone else!

You sound like you are proud of your accomplishments so far as you should be. The heck with everyone else!

Great Job! Just keep your goals in sight and you will be fine.

Thats what I should do, buy a kick boxing video! I got mad at my scale yesterday. I know that your weight will fluctuate but it still made me mad, so I exercised twice as hard and long just to say screw you to my scale.... so maybe the kickboxing would be a great relase as well.

I know what you mean....however I think it is one of those "foot in mouth" moments when people don't really mean to come off sounding rude or anything.

I also think most people have a very delusioned sense of how much a pound is. All these years I've been saying I would like to lose about 20 pounds....and now here I am, I've lost almost 40 and still have 30 or so to go. So I think people are surprised to see what 14 pounds looks like or whatever.

Not to say they don't think you look good, but they are surprised to see that how much they see you lost, translates to 14 pounds.
  • Thanks guys! This is why I love this site!!! Everyone here is doing the same thing and we understand what each of us is going through and how hard it can be sometimes!
