Bento and Pics

Does anyone prepare Bentos for their meals. I would love to start but would like to see some examples of what to use. Pictures would be great!

I haven't had a bento-box lunch since I was in Japan! I would love to find a bento box in USA (if for nothing else than nostalgia). :o) I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but my host-mom would pack good old sticky rice in a ball in one section (they put creative ingredients in the center, but I am unfortunately a very picky eater) and some fruits and veggies or chicken in the others.

I used to. I have several sets., including one that I used to use to make a noodle bowl with precook udon, veggies and a tiny ball of miso paste for soup base. It's a great way to manage monitor portion control. Here's a few I made.

This one has broccoli, grape tomatoes, veggie sushi, veggie dumplings and a tiny bit of hosin sauce for dipping in the pink container.

    Top tier:
Vegetable sushi, pickled ginger in the orange container
Bottom tier: rice noodles with peanut sauce and red pepper flakes, snowpeas and ginger miso sauce for sushi in piglet bottle

Sidecar: kiwi with a splash of lime juice

I use a laptop lunches(fancy name for a bento) but I dont get overly creative. i use one large compartment for my breakfast and then the other three for my lunch. if you google laptop lunches you will find all sorts of ideas.

I used to - I still pack lunches for the hubby, but he likes the samethings all the time, so I kinda stopped posting them, but I have/had a blog (using it for sort of food blogging now I guess...) at http://anamericaninbento.blogspot.com/ - but I also have links to many other bento blogs on the right side :) We used to do a workshop at the annual anime convention, but now that our girls are older, they don't need Mom and Dad there anymore - lol :)
My fav bento blog is Pikko's at http://adventuresinbentomaking.com/ - She is occasionally doing WW, so sometimes they are on a healthier slant, sometimes not...

Good luck and happy bento-ing! :)

Have to second the Pikko rec. She is mad talented. Also for basic instructions on most anything eHow.com is always a good resource.
