Confused! If I'm eating just under 1300 calories a day how much exercise should I be looking at doing? I can't get to a gym but have a cross trainer which I try and do 30 mins which burns 200 calories. Should I be doing this for longer? I'm waiting for the 30 day shred dvd to arrive to try something a little different but get confused with how much I should be burning off.

there is no set amount that you 'should' burn.

personally i decided roughly how much time i wanted to commit to each week on working out, which is between 20-50minutes around 5 times per week. this burns roughly 200-300 cals a session.

some people spend a good 2 hours a and burn over 1000 calories per work out... its up to you to find what fits into your lifestyle and gets you the body you want.
  • Hi.....

I jump rope 4/5 days a week I skip for about 20/35 min( usually during the news) if I fell like I can put in another 10 or 20 min then I do this, any exercise is good exercise!!!!!
  • It all depends on your personal goals and/or how fast you want the weight to come off. So if 30 mins of crosstrainer makes you sweat, I'd say stick with that. If you want to see more results more quickly, up your workouts to 60-90 min 3-5 days perweek. Remember, cardio is just as important as strength/resistance training. Maybe try going for a 20 min walk after dinner?

Generally, you should try to be getting a net of at least 1200, so if you are only eating a bit more than that, you really don't need to do any more exercise. If you want to exercise, I'd say what you are doing now is a good start but consider keeping your net calories at a healthy number! this will also help your metabolism!
