p90x andb 5k training - crazy to do both?

I am training for a 5k and I also want to start p90x. How would I work the running into the p90x schedule? Should I replace p90x cardio days with my running? And probably NOT run on days I work legs in p90x? Any thoughts? Am I crazy to try to do both? Thanks in advance. (39 year old Female, for what its worth)

Not at all. That's how I stared running. I just added the run every other day to my P90X workout. I would actually do P90X and go for a run immediately after. That's just me. See what works for you. I am 38 years old. P90X actually gave me the confidence to run. I ran my first half in September 4 months after completing P90X. I had never been a runner before. I started running 1 month into P90X doing C25K.0

I'm doing C25K and P90X right now. I am on my last week of P90X and my fourth week of C25K. I do the "running" (in quotes because it's slow) on the days I have time so they don't necessarily correlate with any particular P90X days. I don't substitute one for the other but do both. I just make sure I have enough calories to support what I'm doing and watch how I'm feeling.
On Thanksgiving I went and ran and then did Yoga X. That was a pretty good start to the day.0 -
I wouldn't completely replace your running schedule with your 5k training... Rather incorporate your running into the P90X cardio routine. Training for a 5k is not as time consuming as it looks and you may not get enough cardio by doing just the 5k training. I think you can do both! Go for it0

I used P90X and a marathon program, along with some MMA style training to prepare for Tough Mudder this past November. Just remember to rest your body when you need it. Over-training can hurt you.
I would suggest starting off with the "Doubles" version of P90X. It's basically "Classic" with extra cardio workouts. You can supplement your running in place of the cardio discs they recommend.0 -
I just ran the Dallas White Rock marathon yesterday and I did P90x all the way up to the last week before the marathon. I just did p90x 3 days a week and ran 3-4 days a week.. It's tough but it all depends on how determined you are to reach your goal.0
