can't seem to get below 150...

I started trying to loose weight almost 2yrs ago and lost about 85lbs. I joined MFP that winter because I saw I was getting back into some of my old habbits and had put on a few lbs, and when I was only 15-20 lbs from my goal I wanted to turn that around as soon as possible. I maintained my weight all winter, but never lost and was hard at it all spring and summer. I started running and was so proud and happy when I could go for a 6mi run without killing myself, but my weight didn't budge and I seemed to be at 153 (my typical weight give or take a lb) FOREVER. Here it is-winter again and I find myself in the same place I was last year. My weight is closer to 160 however and so I am back on MFP trying to find my motivation. How can I reach my goal of 135 once and for all! depressing:(

i plateaued just like that. i was stuck on my scale @ 129 for 3 years. i talked to my trainer and a nutritionist at my gym and they both looked at my calories and the amount of exercise i did and found out that i was under eating. I was @ a 1200 daily calories and that was too low for what i was burning off during the week. my body was going into starvation mode and i was either maintaining or gaining my weight. I had to increase my calories to 1400 per day and increase my protein to 130 grams a day. as soon as i did that i started to lose weight. when i plateaued again since i was training for a marathon, i increased my calories to 1500 calories and again started to lose
have you tried increasing your calories? how much exercise do you do? I was told not to go below a 750 calorie since your body will think its starving itself0 -
Ok so we are twins!! I was in the same boat you were! Your story is identical to mine.....until I started increasing my protein! I would eat around 100 carbs a day and 130-140 grams of protein, and I finally broke passed 150! Not sure if it will work for you but its a thought!
I was running like crazy and nothing happened until I changed my diet! lots of water too!
Good Luck!0 -
I actually realized that I was not eating enough. I was doing WW and I felt like I had to starve just to maintain. I switched to MFP and have seen the scale move. I workout 4-6 days a week. I have been eating all of my exercise calories, but didn't see the scale move until I started focusing on net calories. Make sure you are hitting your net goals.0

Thanks for the responses. I am similar but stuck more around 155. I did drop to 152 a month ago when I did a 3 week super low carb plan. I do eat close to 100 grams of protein a day. I am going to really try hard after holidays to go low carb and high protein. All the responses to the original poster have confirmed this is what I need to do!0
