i feel like if i try to avoid snacking and extra food i end up avoiding my family and friends. after all so much of my life is surrounded by food. i'm greek and in my town there's nothing much for groups of friends to do except go out to eat. i try to go to my room and do homework or go to the gym or take my dog on walks but then i just feel like i'm distancing myself from not only food, but people too. any advice?

When others are snacking have a cup of hot tea. It does help stop cravings. :drinker:0

Eat something healthy and filling beforehand.0

I know what you mean. I live in Washington, DC, and nearly everyone here drinks heavily when socializing. It's not healthy at all but it's pretty tough to avoid unless you're ok with the hermit lifestyle.0

I agree with the drinking tea or eat a plate or bowl full of veggies before you go out so you are full.
Water always helps too.

If you possibly can, cut the portion sizes down. Maybe indulge once a week, but skip the rest and find some friends to work out with you.0

If I am with people going out to a cafe, I have a peppermint tea (0 cals) or a plain coffee (90 cals ish). You don't need to eat to sit and be sociable.0

Just because they are eating doesn't mean you have to.0
