Just wondering if anyone on here makes roasted chick peas for snacks? Are canned or dried better for this sort of thing? What seasonings taste good? (I know you bake them for about 30-45mins, right?)
Thanks y'all!

Love them. I always use the dried beans (follow directions on back to be made edible first, of course) , mostly because they are cheaper to buy in bulk, that and I try not to eat canned foods.
Here are 3 recipes I've used...
ETA: make sure the beans are completly dry - I've found the ingrediants don't stick well when they are wet.
~2 cups chickpeas
1 tablespoon or a bit less of lemon juice
1/2-3/4 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon cumin (or more... I love cumin!)
1/4-1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes (this leaves them extra crispy)
~ 2 cups chickpeas
1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon maple or maple flavored syrup
2-3 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes
~ 2 cups chickpeas
1/2 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2-3 tablespoons cinnamon sugar mix
bake the same as above0 -
I'm curious to see what others say. I tried to do them once but they didn't turn out very crunchy. I started with just a big bag of beans, skipped on the canned version to save on sodium. Not sure if I messed up in the bean boiling phase or the baking phase.0

I'm confused. I thought I had to soak the beans overnight then boil them before I baked them. ???0

I make them all the time and always use canned. All you have to do is drain, rinse, oven. lol. I'm lazy, the easier the better!0

I've got a can of them in my pantry right now... I'm going to give this a try!0

I use the canned chick peas.. drain and rinse them. then i usually put some cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt & pepper and a little hit of olive oil.. I roast until very crunchy! make sure to move them around on the pan while roasting so they all get cooked the same.. one of my fav snacks...0

I usually bake some to serve with chicken and a veggie. I like just tossing mine in italian seasonings and baking for 20 minutes at 350. Super easy!0
