how do you log cheese properly? I mean on the package it shows a 30g piece is 1 1/4" is that wide and long? like a square? SO if you slice you black diamond or other brand cheese that is long and thin, how big is that slice actually? how can i cut and measure it so it's accurate to log it on? i don't wan to be bringing out a measuring tape if ya know what i mean....lol

You could weigh it. The nutrition info for cheese is usually by the ounce. I think 1 ounce is supposed to be abut the size and width of your thumb.0

If it's 30g a serving, measure 30g
I have a food scale, super cheap, but it does it's job. 0 -
well maybe i'll have to invest in one of those.... i have no idea how big 30grams is.....
the cheese i buy ( from Canada) always shows Inch and then grams no oz.... eg) 1 14" cube ( 30g)0 -

Where can i buy a Food Scale? Around how much do they cost?
I started with a really cheap one I bought at the grocery store in the kitchen gadgets aisle for $6. I have since upgraded to a digital scale I picked up at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $25. The cheap spring model worked but the digital is so much easier with autmatic tare (weight of the dish you are placing food in) adjustment.
Best investment (from a weight management standpoint) I have ever made.0 -
FYI 28grams = 1 oz.
I also highly recommend getting a digital food scale. I weight just about everything I eat.0 -
After you use a digital scale for a while, you get good at "eyeballing" sizes for foods you eat frequently.
Amazon has a mini digital scale for $6.45 with free shipping.
It can only weigh up to 500g, but it's not a huge expenditure if you want to give it a try.
(For reference of 500g, an apple with 2.5 inch diameter weighs approx 150 grams.)
Not sure if I'm allowed to link to the product page.

Here's the product name, in case the link doesn't work:
Fast Weigh MS-500-BLK Digital Pocket Scale, 500 by 0.1 G
I got a better one that weighs heavier for about $20.0 -
I would highly recommend a food scale. Just weigh it out and it's so much easier.0
