Is it true that Vegans lose more weight than people that eat meat every day? Even if it is the recommended portion?

    False.

Where are you getting this information? Vegan propaganda site?
  • False. They lose the same amount in the same calorie deficit. Cutting out animal products doesn't magically increase weight loss :]

Keep in mind that generally speaking vegans are consuming what would be considered a higher carb diet, which is also low protein and when in a deficit that can work against muscle preservation. In that regard doing weight bearing exercise would be highly recommended if you are in fact a vegan.

Negative, actually god shuns vegans, evidence of this can be found in Thessalonians 5:22. "He who detests the meat provided by the heavenly father, shall hereby be condemned to the lake of fire where they shall endure extreme misfortune for all eternity."

False. Losing weight is losing weight. And calories are calories. If a Vegan needs 1400 calories a day to maintain weight and starts to eat less or burn more, they will loose weight. The same would go for an omnivore with an identical caloric need.

I eat all food groups, just make them healthy choices and portions. I have had no trouble losing weight. I would not start something you don't intend to do forever. You will just gain as soon as you stop.

I don't think so. At least I say this because I know many vegetarian Indian folks. I luv em', but they are all overweight. They fry a lot of their stuff. Even Vegans/Vegetarians have to eat clean to an extent. I tried going there (vegetarian status), but couldn't meet my protein requirements. Back to carnivore status and no turning back for me.

And a pretty funny one if you ask me . . . coffee, it's called coffee and will help you wake up in the morning.

This is a myth. I've known people of all sorts of shapes and sizes with all sorts of diets, it's all about knowing how to eat no matter what diet you adhere to.

Actually, it's not weight but friends Vegans lose...lol

Seriously, a plant based diet is great; however, I worry about protein given my own goals and expectations.
My standard is to avoid any programs where certain items are banned from diet.

Having said that, my experience is that Vegans, as a group, are the healthiest people around.

Mike Tyson went Vegan, and he lost a ton of weight after bloating up like a balloon after retiring from the ring.
  • False! My daughter is a strict vegan and I've seen her weight go up and down. I agree with some of the posts. Calories are calories no matter where they come from.

False! I am a formerly fat vegan. It hasn't been easy to lose weight.

Lifting weights and getting 100g+ of protein a day - as well as lots of fat - has sped up the process significantly.

I guess its too obvious lol

False. However, it is true that people who eat a diet of whole foods will lose some more weight because of the added work it takes to chew and digest a big pile of kale as opposed to a piece of crispy, delicious bacon. This would not be the case if you just ate vegan marshmallows all day.

BTW, Thessalonians 5:22 says to avoid evil. Nothing about meat. However, Acts 11:6-7 reads:

I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds. Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.’
