I did it (actually one and a half times). I only posted my results the first time because they were very dramatic.

It worked really well, but all of the jumping killed my shins and knees. There are modifications you can make if you need to, though.

Good luck if you decide to do it!
  • wow it really worked for you im defo doing it starting jan 1st i cant wait now! im already happyish now so hoping this just helps tone me up! did you do it along dieting too?

The first time, I followed a 1500 calorie-per-day diet and sometimes did not eat back the calories burned. Near the end, though, I ate every last calorie because I was hungry!

After I finished the program, I continued the 1500-per day intake and continued to lose about 2 pounds per week for the next month or so. Then I hit a plateau and started the program again, but upped my caloric intake to 1900 per day and ate back my exercise calories. I lost a lot of inches the second time around as well, especially around my waist (I went from 34.5 to 31). I lost about 4 pounds total and only did it through week 2, day 8, I believe. I had to stop because it was affecting my running because of the shins and knees, though it wasn't nearly as bad as it was by the end of the first 30 day round. I also took 1 day off between levels the second time around.
  • I have used this video for the past month (usually 4 times a week) and it has worked great for me. I do level 2 and always work up a sweat. I don't have any problems with it hurting my shins or anything....just make sure you stretch very well before and after. Possibly even doing your own stretches as well as the videos. I currently weigh around 164, am 5' 6" and have lost all of my weight doing Jillian's videos in my own home. I do not work but I do have children so I am confined to exercising at home for now. To me, it's a great 20 minute workout that burns a good amount of calories.

I must also add that when I first started doing the video I was sore all over but I just continued to workout through the soreness. It doesn't bother me. You know your body best and you can modify as you need to. Stick with it and I hope you get the results you're looking for.

The weightloss part is all about your calorie deficit - for me the Shred only burns around 200-240 calories per session (this varies from person to person, though, according to weight/height/fitness level/effort). So simply adding the Shred will not make you lose massive amounts of 'weight' on the scale unless you are creating more of a calorie deficit either through additional exercise or watching your calories. HOWEVER it is AMAZING for working your muscles which means you lose inches off your body much faster than if you are 'just trying to lose weight'. I am only a little over halfway through, I have only lost about 2 lbs in the past 3 weeks (I'm only *trying* to lose about 1/2 lb per week b/c I'm getting closer to my goal - also it took me about 3 weeks to get to day 15 of the program due to a couple of breaks) BUT even though I've only dropped a couple of lbs I have already lost 1" off my thighs, 1" of my butt/hips, 2" off my belly at the navel, 1" off my natural waist, and 0.5" off my arms. Personally I am really excited about those results so far! Basically, make SURE you take your measurements in various areas before you start the program, that way even if you do not drop a lot of weight on your scale, you can still clearly see the progress you've made with the program.

ETA: Also, if you go to the 'search' function and type in 'shred results', lots of people share their before & after pics. :-)

    This.

30DS is probably one of the most often discussed topics on MFP. The search button is your friend.
