Did you know that more than one research has shown that consuming fat free diary products along with each meal helps burn even more fat than usual? It seems that calcium is part of the reason, but results are not the same if you add more calcium to your diet, so apparently it is related to diary products.

Of course, regular diary products are high on fat, so that would defeat the purpose of your goals. Fat free diary products do the trick. You can google it and you'll see plenty of articles stating this fact.

Just make sure, if you're willing to try this, to not think that just because of this you can eat more. Calories still count, eating ever 3 to 4 hours still count towards speeding up your metabolism, so if you're adding the fat free diary product to your meals, count the calories and don't go over your limit.

Actually, I think I made a mistake. Low-Fat Diary Product not Fat Free.
  • I've heard that. It helps block the absorption of fat. I don't think it matters about the fat content
  • I would imagine it also has something to do with the casein, which slows the release of cortisol.

why would fat defeat the purposes of losing weight? fat does not make you fat and is an essential macronutrient

Do you have a link to this research? I enjoy reading research as long as it's not some random blog or a website selling weight loss product. If you have the actual research or just a link to it can you share so I can read it?

    Thanks!

Interesting. What about dairy would do this?

You are correct that there are articles stating this. I like a lot of dairy products, so this would be good news to me.

Here is one article I found that seemed to making similar points as your post: http://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20040416/dairy-foods-fat-weight-loss
Although calories still count, the study showed that obese adults who ate a high-dairy diet lost significantly more weight and fat than those who ate a low-dairy diet containing the same number of calories.
Zemel says the study also showed that eating three to four servings of dairy products a day is more effective at enhancing weight loss efforts than calcium supplementation alone with pills or calcium-fortified foods.

Then I read the fifth paragraph in the article:
The study appears in the April issue of Obesity Research and was supported by the National Dairy Council, a WebMD sponsor.
Left me a bit suspicious. Also, study was of weight loss in 32 obese adults. Thirty-two is not a good sample size, IMO.
Calories still count, eating ever 3 to 4 hours still count towards speeding up your metabolism,
This statement affects your credibility. Plenty of peer-reviewed unbiased science available disproving the frequency of meals myth.

Fat free yogurt helps me lose weight. It comes in nice pre-measured containers, so I always stay in my allotted calories.

When the package is larger (sleeves of Girl Scout Thin Mints, anyone?), I overeat more easily.

I never said to not eat fat, but I'm sure you know 1g of fat equals 9 calories, while 1g of carbs equals 4 calories as well as 1g of protein. My statement didn't mean to stop eating fat, as we all know it is necessary, but you must be careful what type of fats you eat, because not all are healthy for the body. What I meant is fat is the one to watch the most, and it is the one with less proportions in comparison to carbs and proteins.
