It does look appealing as a preworkout snack.

I use them on my long rides, sometimes on my long runs if I don't have any gels handy. I find it hard to eat and run at the same time.

Interesting. I was expecting a laundry list of ingredients and something not made by Clif. I am surprised. Not that there is much nutritional value, but caffeine, hell yes!

I use the margarita flavor (with 3x sodium) on my long runs and races. I also do the cherry.

They are easy to carry and I like them better than gels or Gu.

Lots of good flavors too! Not as much sugar as many although it's 2 portions per pkg so could bring it up if eat all. Doesn't matter for many people but I follow sugar intake - I'm diabetic.

If you're a fan of peanut butter I highly suggest the new Peanut Butter flavored Gu... amazing!

I use a blok at a time if I'm on a long run.

NOTE: They don't melt in your sports bra whilst running!! WHOOP!!

I really like the Honey Stinger energy chews (http://shop.honeystinger.com/categories/Organic-Energy-Chews/) but these Shot Bloks have Green Tea caffeine. Sounds interesting. Will have to try them. Thanks for posting.

Ive used them on long runs but prefer gels. Gels at easy to eat and gone right away. The blocks take a little to chew plus I get the sticky crap in my teeth. However I do get a boost of energy from them.

Those are my FAVORITE snack when we go backpacking! They have electrolytes and sugar and give me just the boost I need to keep hauling along.

Similar and equally delicious are Gu Chomps. I love the watermelon flavor. I'm a big fan of these for long rides (MS150) and sometimes I take them during a workout, if I'm getting hungry.

Used 3 of the strawberry ones (no caffeine) at the midpoint of my 15K last Saturday, I liked them better than the gels I've used.

this looks good, usually I try to run on an empty stomach after drinking some water, but maybe I should eat something. What do you guys consider a long run? Anything over an hour or specific mileage?

I think it's just personal preference - when I trained for my 15K, my longest run was 8.1 miles and I felt kind of tired on the last mile - so I knew for the full race distance I wanted something extra mid-run. All my other training runs had been pretty fine.

That depends on the individual. My current long run is 16 miles but I'll bring nutrition with me on anything over 1.5 hours of training.

Don't know it had any protein. All I know is that I ate 6 of them and I'm wired! Usually I don't respond to high dose of caffeine like that, so there must be something else.

No protein, no fat. Just carbs, sodium, and potassium. An entire pack will give you 48g carbs (24g sugars) and 50-100mg of caffeine if you get one of the caffeinated flavors.

I bring something with me on runs over 8 miles. I tend to use apple sauce squeeze tubes because they are easier on my stomach than gels and chewing while running is difficult.

I know a lot of people that love shot bloks for hiking, running, and biking. Personally, they are too chew for me.

Usually I start to get a little tired at the hour mark so I usually only set up my run for about 6 miles, I plan on doing a 10K come the spring, I could probably suck it up and do it now, but the weather up in New England is starting to get bad. I would like to push myself and see what my limits are though.
