OMG-How did you lose the weight???

Ever have people ask you your "secret" to losing all of your weight only to be disappointed when you tell them you worked out "x" amount of hours a day and logged each and every calorie that went down the chute? Never fails to annoy me when I explain to ppl just to have them act repulsed by the idea of putting any effort into their weight loss..

I hear ya. Its like they are wanting the same kind of results while eating a kit kat bar.0

Happens all the time - their eyes get big, and I say. "The old fashion way - diet and exercise plus I found this great site to log my food and track my calories" they are usually let down and say 'Oh", that's the end of the conversation.0

I tell them to try MFP and start logging what you eat. If nothing else, this tool has taught me that there aren't any short cuts.0

All the time. People have actually asked me if am "taking anything" I took offense to that one..
I tell everybody who asks me how I lost weight and I tell everybody about MFP and I've sent them invites to join and I have not recruited one person. I rave about this site, you'd think I was an employee of MFP. People ask me almost every day too. I guess they want to hear an easy way to lose weight. a quick fix. who knows. I suppose something inside you has to click before you make the plunge into a new lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise .0 -
I just tell them I work out all day long and still eat what I want!! The "secret" they don't know is I eat whatever I want on my cheat day :laugh:0

Haven't experienced this myself, but if anyone DOES ask me and seems disappointed I just wouldn't care.
It's my belief that people are entitled to think and to feel however they like. If they happen to think like imbeciles and feel confused about simple things, then they're entitled to it0 -
Oh yeah. I swear people expect me to spew out some nonsense about a magic pill or a magic drink. When I tell them I simply watched what I ate, ate less overall and worked out - they seem.. disappointed.
I don't know what to tell them. I think people are always seeking the easy way out and are unhappy when they realize there isn't an easy way out to weight loss.0 -
I know! thats crazy, I've had people do that to me too. Everyone seems to want something with little to no effort. Craziness, there is no trick!0

I have had people ask me - get all excited then last one day at it. I just feel they aren't ready to do anything about it for themselves.
I see on here occaisonally new people saying 'got to lose 20 lb by Xmas day' or something stupid and I just feel sorry for them too - that they haven't realised the hard yards have to be put in. :laugh:0 -
Yea also lots of people I noticed say things like "today is the day" or "tomorrow I start a new life" blah blah. I stayed away from doing that, too much pressure. I didn't tell anyone but my spouse what I was trying to do, just so he would stop eating chocolate cookies in front of me. You just have to do it and take it one day at a time, everyone has ups and downs and the key is to stay consistent and not let anything get in your way.
I want to be happy with myself and have this as part of my life TBH I am still struggling with balance. I still feel like the fat me is just around the corner taunting me with a twinkie.0
